Move a playing card e.g. '3 of Cubs - Lucky 38' from your own inventory into a companions inventory or into wherever you may want to stash it, then move it back. BOOM. It is gone forever.

P.S. Can anyone tell me the point of the cards I've been buying them all from traders etc. Not that that was any point because they have all vanished into thin air.
