Dishonored on Mac?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 8:34 pm

Do the devs at Arkane have any plans at all to port Dishonored to macs? I realize the chances are pretty slim, considering Bioshock 2 is the only game developed by Arkane that is available on Mac, and that was even only ported over by Feral, and the preorder picture has only xbox, ps3 and GFWL on the boxes, but I just figured I'd ask here to confirm whether or not there are any plans at all for a Mac port.

No word yet. Also, Bioshock 2 was developed by 2K Marin, not Arkane, although many people from Looking Glass Studios and Arkane did work on Bioshock 2

I think you are mixing up Games for Windows Live and Game for Windows. Games for Windows live is bad by default.

Yes, it was art stuff. More specifically, I know they worked on the water for that game. (Among other things?)

So Games for Windows Live means that it works with Windows Live but doesn't necessarily mean only Windows, while Games for Windows means only for Windows? Is that what you're saying?

I'm saying that Games for windows live is a DRM. Its basicly steam, just much much worse. If it says Games for Windows Live, that means that that is the DRM you will use. Games for Windows Live is the same as Game for Windows, but the latter is preferable, because it doesnt use that dreaful drm thingy. Both do mean that it won't be available for mac tho.

Games for Windows is just a certification Microsoft gives out that says "we tested this [censored]." It doesn't have any bearing on whether or not there will be a Mac release.

However, a Mac release seems unlikely, since Bethesda doesn't seem to interested in the platform, and that's the publisher's call. I'd imagine that as developers, Arkane would want their game on as many platforms as they can get it on if they could.

Ah, I see. Seems I had the wrong idea. I know that Bethesda hasn't shown huge support for the mac platform as a publisher, but I do know that Rage was ported over to Mac by Aspyr, as is on the app store. I don't know if id software had a different relationship with Bethesda, seeing as they are part of Zenimax, but it seems like it wouldn't be an impossibility to do for Dishonored. And while putting it on the app store for something like $10 more wouldn't be my favorite solution, for a game that looks as cool as this, I'd probably pay it.
