Dissapointement about owned house in Solitude...

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 1:12 am

I'm guessing, that there are people here, that already know about the ability to obtain a house in Solitude, but.... (read spoiler below)...

Spoiler

The house is quite large but squeezed up and for 25000 Coins + Coins for decoration, I was expecting something more, because Riften's house looks much more cozy, compact and is in my opinion more open in interior. The question is, weather there is a chance to marry or obtain a house, that is bigger than Solitude with less junk and more containers, specifically through marriage, because from what people talk, you can marry any single npc in the game regardless of gender, but since my character is a guy, I am looking for a female spouse, that has a larger house than Solitude with nice containers in it, etc. Also the storage room inside Solitude only contains 2 working barrels and 3 sacks, the chests are useless decorations, the room is worthless, the space is really organized badly in Solitude house with a very stingy amount of containers.

I have a house in Whiterun, Riften, Solitude

And I am not very found of the way how to get a house in Windhelm by forcing me to join the Stormcloacks, I really don't want to join them because many NPCs have told me tales about what Ulfric really cares about - himself, and I don't like that.

Are you having issues with your weapon racks in that house? Cause I can't get any of mine to activate.

I haven't been moving into that house yet, but now when I tried, the weapon rack at the level where the Enchantment room is located only can contain two weapons of 5 racks, the other 3 don't show up the interaction text.

EDIT: With more fooling around managed to put 3 weapons in middle 3 racks, the side racks don't have the above said.

You don't have to join the Stormcloaks to get the house in Winhelm. I completed Blood on the Ice (or whatever its called), conpleted the Legion quests and was still able to buy the house+all the furnishings (no blood in my house like some seem to have). I'd say it's a lot cozier than Solitudes house, but not tons of storage. It has 3 mannequins though, a big weapon rack (5 weapons), and multiple display cases for entire swords/bows. O can't decide what house I like best. Riftens is good, Markarths is good, and Winhelms is good. Non of them blow me away so in hoping for a DLC that might provide a new home somewhere else.

How is the solitude house compared to whiterun's breezehome.

I just bought that house but no furnishings yet because I just needed
a temporary chest for stuff.
Because it felt pretty small too me. Like a cabin compared to my house
in Oblivion.

I was planning on buying the Solitude's house once I got enough gold to waste.
JW but do you have any screenshots of that or the Riften house?
Or which is your favorite

How do you guys keep getting the weapon racks to work in Windhelm? For some reason they won't register for me, neither will the wall racks. Also when I put a dagger in the display case I couldn't remove it and had to reload to my autosave from when I entered the house. They need to put out a patch or something for this. :\

Aside from the fact, that confirmed houses are in...

Spoiler

Whiterun, Riften, Solitude, Windhelm, Markarth
Anyone has discovered more/other? And still, the question is weather there is a female spouse, that has a bigger house than in Solitude?

I have been using the abandoned house in Markarth. However, i have only been using the chest by the front door.

Spoiler
At the end of the deadric quest the prince says, "look after the house" while he is in oblivion.

ah and does anyone know if the blood in hjerim windhelm go away?

I see I am screwed I guess if you didn't purchase the clean up murder mess before you purchase living room it stays there forever :( Sad days

I just finished "Blood on the Ice", also I am at the stage where Galmar asks me to take the oath, but I don't want to and Jorlef doesn't have the option to buy the house, so how am I supposed to get the house to be purchased without joining Stormcloaks? No idea how to make Ulfric grant me the ability to purchase the house unless I accept the oath, which is lame if that's the only option here. Also I did slay a dragon and two giants from Jorlef's requests.

From WIKI found this line of info about Windhelm:
Available after completing the Stormcloak quests. Also becomes available after completion of the Imperial Army quest line.

EDIT (About spouses):

Found a guide at http://www.gamefront.com/skyrim-marriage-guide/ that has a list of marriable NPCs, but well its only a plain list without explaining further what homes the NPCs own if they do:

Leads to thoughts about Nords being lovebirds in their hearts :D , though Skyrim is in their land and the main mass in the game are Nords, so it is normal, that there are more Nords to marry than other races, since the other races are scattered across the land and in less numbers.

I can't confirm myself about that, guess I'll have a reason to go back and check weather the containers re spawn there, if they don't then well you can live in it :) . It is also listed here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Houses

Of all the houses I've seen the Markarth house you buy is the best so far. You need to be lvl 20 and have either finished the main quest or have some fame and do a bounty quest and a quest to get the Jarl's father's shield back. It is 8000g and maybe another 2000g to fit it out. It has a good amount of storage all close together. Much better then the solitude house IMO.

Markarth
is the best solitude was a mistake 3 levels but ugly

but very pretty actually and big
and i own whitrun small but convinient location

windhelm is not possible until you do the serial killer quest
and i cannot seem to get that one quest to work
you are suppose to get an armoury there

have not gotten the option for rift to buy house not sure why

i like a house in different areas to stoere stuff

You don't need to buy a house in whiterun. You can just use your lady friends house by taking her house keys
