Distant Mountains Flickering issue

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 2:21 am

Every time i head out of whiterun, It even happens inside whiterun too. I look up to the distant mountains and there's massive disturbance in the region.

Theres flickering textures everytime i make some movement and it's getting to be an eyesore.

Heres a video to show you what i mean. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKfxewncqcg

Yeah, it also happens coming out of Markarth. Not anything you can do about it.

Posting your Dxdiag isn't going to help one bit, inforis.
Have a look at this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1336456-mountain-flicker-z-fighting/

That thread contains pretty much everything we modders know about the problem, how to reduce it a little, why it happens, how many people are sharing the same issue as you, etc etc.
In short: there is no solution we players can do. It's up to Bethesda to fix it. Perhaps in a bright distant future modders will be able to hack a fix, but I seriously doubt it.

I concur with hlvr. The only "fix" is to increase the cloud density so it isn't as noticeable lol.

It's a problem call z-fighting, and is pretty technical. Basically some things are trying to occupy the same space as eachother (completely over simplified explanation lol).
