DLC and the release date that keeps on changing

Post » Sat Jun 25, 2011 6:10 pm

OK I know that I'm surely going to be blasted by some fan boy who is so in love with Bethesda that they are blind to what really goes on but here goes. Old world blues where are you? I am sitting around quietly jonesing for my next fallout fix and takeing them at thier word that we would see OWB in June. Not gonna happen WTF? I would like to know why . Not gonna happen either . I think that as fans and consumers we deserve an explanation and before one of you say how dare i say that we deserve it. I buy thier games not just one but all and have since the begining thats why. they get my money and in exchange i expect to let in on a little bit of info. Now im sure that there is a completely good reason for the delay but for some reason the billions of dollars they make off us entitles us to absolutely nothing more than the game and the box it came in. All i am asking is for a little explanation nothing more.

They most likely were very busy this month with E3, plus they had to probably spend the entire month searching for bugs and glitches, they're trying to bring you new content, the last thing you want to do is complain on THEIR forums :whistling: but yea, just saying, I'm as dissapointed as you are OWB isnt coming in June, but be glad its coming at all, it is worth the wait I'd think.

We pretty much have an explanation, you just have to think about it. They are releasing a big and substantial patch and want it out before the DLC, both the DLC and this patch have to go through testing from Sony and Microsoft before they are released, too. On top of that, it is likely that they are making sure the DLC is polished as possible and not filled with bugs. So really, it's completely justified, and delays are a reality in the world of video games, not just Bethesda. So just be patient.

the reason i complain on thier forums is because some part of me hopes they are listening to the pvssyr. I know that E3 propably is a very hectic time for them but why then do they say that Dlc will be coming out in june then not deliver. I think to say we will relase more DLC when it is ready than to put it out there and not do it . The whole industry need to learn that lesson. I have seen so many occasions of game developers missing supposed release dates. It is just one of those thing that i think they could do better on.

Just so it is said I have spent at least 4 to 5 hundred hours on Fallout New Vegas. I am not a casual gamer. I have been a gamer forever and short of the glitches in FNV I Really enjoy it, not as much as Fallout 3 but I am happy with the game as a whole will be a consumer of thier games until i cant hold a controller any more. It just seems silly to me that in this day and age when information is so easily dispursed that none is given. There are a lot of people out there who could care less about the industry. I live video games. They are my escape from an otherwise bland existence and i know that i definately take this a lot to serious so that is why i get so excited.

I think the reason thier are so many threads about this is that so many people really like the game.

An explanation has been given for why OWB is delayed. It's been known for a few days. Whether or not you agree with it is another matter. And the suggestion that you assumed the vague date of 'June' was a promise to be met shows a bit of shortsightedness. Release dates for games are always potentially in flux. Unexpected bugs, irregularities and other catastrophes are not uncommon and most development houses have had delays to products. People assuming that release dates are set in stone has always been a problem. Anyone with deep experience with the gaming industry would know this.

Call it fannish if you want, but no matter the company, I tend to take release dates and features subsets as guidelines until I have the box in my hand and I can study it or I've seen a few reviews. To do otherwise is to gamble. Buyer beware.

If they liked the game why do they keep on bashing Obsidian about it? Its called overreacting and alot are doing it.

For me its that we dont get updates often enough. When we do get updates about when dlc will be released its almost to the end of the month that it was slated for. I like so many others have sat and waited and waited and waited for Owb and then all we get is six lines about some patch and it's going to be another month. I think that they can do better.Maybe they are so busy that they dont have time to say it a couple of weeks in advance. Just a week ago they said it was not going to come out June 14th so why not say it was gonna take another month im sure that they knew then. I think the games they create are awesome and except for honest hearts being a little too short they have created a game that i will no doubt play through again and again.

Yes i myself got a little angry about how they changed the date of the release. But when it resorts to calling obsidian slandering names then it goes to far.

Lonesome Road isn't complete yet. If I told you what date we were targeting, it might change, and I hear you guys love it when we change dates on you.

As long as the battle between Ulysses and the Courier involves laser beams shooting out of their eyes and chainsaw hands, you guys can take as much time as you'd like. :celebration:

why do you care anyway if they never said it will come in june and released in july it will be the same if you didn't play OWB till now i'm sure you can wait till 19 june
its not nice of them to announce something and not keep their word but i'm sure you won't die if you play dlc 20 days later than day you thought you will play

Heh, maby my memory is playing tricks on me, but I could have sworn the first plan was a release once a month for dlc. Which was delayed the first time for a month or two for a patch.

You pay money for the game. You want info? Send some more money to them. I don't know about you, but I know I didn't have Bethesda or Obsidian sign a contract with me saying that if I buy this game, they have to keep me informed about everything they do. And I wouldn't want to either, I don't need to know when they use the restroom. Be glad we get any DLC. They don't have to make them. I didn't read that they "were" going to release DLC in June and July, I read that they "were going to try" to release DLC in June and July. It'd be nice to get the info, but we're not entitled to it. Granted, not the best move ticking off your consumers, but it ain't gonna affect my buying of it. I'll get it once I find out it's released.

Nah that was how it was originally. You can check Bethblog's history and it mentions no specific date, but mentions one per month.

I love reading threads like these.

I don't understand what it is with gamers but a large portion of them seem to think that game devs live in the giant dark spires of doom with the ability to just wave their hands and magically make everything from patches to DLC in a nanosecond, but they delay things just to annoy the consumers.

Guess what game devs are HUMAN and like all other HUMANS they make mistakes or [censored] comes up.

Does it mean they were lieing? NO.

Does it mean you can't trust then? NO.

Your not entitled to DLC or patches, your not entitled to info about DLC or patches. Just chill out, and stop saying they "betrayed" the gaming community.
