DLC like 'Battlehorn Castle'

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:51 pm

I'm pretty sure you all enjoyed playing 'Battlehorn castle' DLC for Oblivion (if you don't know what I'm talking about http://oblivion.wikia.com/wiki/Battlehorn_Castle)

While I'm well aware New Vegas itself and some player made mods adds housing but exploring, decorating a castle/estate with your own servants always tasted different for me so I wonder if fellow wastelanders would like to see something like that?

P.S:Sorry for bad english..

So a safe house DLC?
Honestly I wouldn't mind it.
Not sure I'd buy it but it would be easy enough to do I guess. (For Obsidians team)

Only if it was 2-3 dollars, maybe a 5 dollars. I'd rather have DLC that expands lore as opposed to DLC soley about a single little safehouse.

I'd rather have small DLC's though specifically designed for pleasing console users without the availability of mods.

* One that halves all exp gained from enemies and quests. (For those that want to level up slower) (Does not include speech, hacking et cetera)
* One that allows for people to continue past main quest. (Completely non-canon, nothing in the gameworld changes.)
* One that raises level cap to 50. (For those that want god characters)
* One that sets the level cap at 25. (Doesn't matter if you have Dead Money, 25 is cap, it doesn't affect characters above lvl 25)
* One that raises enemy spawns. (Requires more work since terrible fps can hit.)
* One that raises all enemy damage with +10 damage. (Even rad roaches and crap, for those that want enemies to be more dangerous)
* One that makes perk ratio 1:1. (For those that miss FO3's way of doing things.)
* One that makes perk ratio 1:3. (For those that miss Skilled trait.)

This would not cost anything, no new achievement, no true change to the overall game either.
Just a bit of coding released as a free DLC for those that want to balance things out or be overpowered.
It would allow for more options for console players that don't have the luxury of mods.

See no problem with it really.
Does not have to be quality DLC's.
Does not have to cost money.
Does not have to be forced since it's optional to download them.
And it would allow the developers to please the fans that want to tweak the game. (I'd go with 1:3 perk ratio, +10 enemy damage, lvl cap 25 and raised spawns.)

Snip

I like this it could all be one DLC and you could change the stuff in the settings menu.

I have enough safe house's without some DLC specifically for some more lol. I would prefer new areas to explore.

Would be better to release as one DLC with a new options menu, some of them would have to be permanent though, can't just change the cap to 25 when at lvl 26+ or change your mind at lvl 45 and take it down to regular 30.

I just hope they do it though, if they can bring joy to the console users by giving us more options then I think they should. :)

Back to the castle subject I think I could like this but what I'd like to see are a series of quite expensive upgrades, as it give me something to spend all my money on.

Aside from standard things like a workbench and a ammo press and a hotplate for campfire stuff and of course storage cabinets. It be nice to have things like a water purifier which is required for the green house,(which grows a series of wasteland plants for harvesting). A trophy room which contains mannequins you can store equipment on,(which then wear the equipment). An autodoc to heal your wounds, repair your limbs and cure addiction. Defenses like auto turrets and robot patrols, which can start as Protecterons then be upgraded to Mr. Gutsy's then finally to Sentry Bots.

As a 360 owner, I'd certainly buy it. With such a captive audience on the consoles (certainly 360, and I'm assuming you can't put pc mods on a ps3 either), almost any dlc would have a vast take up - hard to see how it could loose money. But, having said that I'm sure licensing issues could screw the whole idea up!

I would definitely buy *any* dlc that included gabriel77dan's first option above (halving xp) - even if that's all there was in it.

Exactly, player housing in New Vegas doesn't offer much things to do.But a castle/estate like 'Battlehorn' would offer it's mini quests like hiring guards,a shooting range maybe, where we can practise or watch our guards practise, buying kitchen area and a cook so our guards would gather and eat at the dining hall,an upgradeable casino room where we can gamble with our servants,or a secret room, tunnel which will offer a different area(like an ancient altar, maybe a harem with slaves :teehee: ) where we can stuff our unique evil looking melee weapons etc so we would have another reason to visit our estate.
And adding gabriel77dan's new options/ideas would definitely help the DLC..

I think a mansion like in the 'point lookout' would be nice http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Calvert_Mansion

I'd like a few more housing options, maybe a DLC that adds a couple more houses for you to buy would be pretty cool. I did enjoy Battlehorn but it introduced a glitch at the mystic emporium that kinda svcks since they never fixed it.

i'd be cool it it was cheap ($5 or less) and had some short, interesting side story about it w/ secret passages and what not to make more to explore.

Perhaps one where you can run your own casino. Have some quests tied to it like getting enertainers for the Tops.

I like the idea being a console user myself but you have to remember it costs money to give us those free DLCs.

It does?
I figure it's like an hour of coding for an employee or two over at Obsidian.
You mean like for XBLA and PSstore to accept it?

Not for 10 bucks. If they are going to charge 10 bucks for all DLC (based on FO3 prices) I want to see a lot of content and well written quests. There are plenty of safehouse and stronghold mods that are free. I want to see DLC that adds new areas and adds long interesting quests.

Well for the house DLC I'd expect the Oblivion prices, and for the customization options I had in mind they could release one DLC for 400 MSP that has a crapload of customization options.

Those dlcs helped the game a lot, houses have a way of making you feel like your in the game, especialy in bethesda style games, and the housing options in NV are flawed not very good(or to me at least).Come on obsidian, throw us 360/ps3 players a bone!

Sorry, nothing like that is in the works. The upcoming DLC for New Vegas is more comparable to the Dead Money and the DLC you've seen on Fallout 3.

I like this idea a lot, especially since I play off a console and don't have the luxury of the GECK, PC Console commands or Mods for the Nexus...

As for the OP a cool "safe house" earnable via questing would also be welcome.
