DLC not detected?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 10:43 am

On my current playthrough I have two saves, one autosave and a normal save, every time I try to load either one it tells me "This game requires downloadable content that is not available" when I know for sure that I havn't deleted it. If I select load anyway it tells me "the storage device you are using is no longer available" and sends me back to the main menu. Now I've had to restart my game once due to save files not loading and don't wanna have to do it again, is there any way to fix this without starting the whole thing from scratch?

Welcome to the DLC Bug. You're not alone. There is no fix yet for your save file. Hopefully a patch will be released that can resurrect the corrupted save files.

The bug has nothing to do with DLC, although it says it does.

Honestly, folks, I do not care if I need to start over again... If the corrupted saves can be repaired, yay, but at this stage I am just praying for a fix that will mean I have NO chance of getting the bug again.

I will trade in my 30 hrs + of game-time for that assurance, no sweat.

I consider our save games are expendible for now, as long as future ones will be A-OK.

Your move, Obthesda.

Got mine this morning! Not happy at all so my 3 days off are now going to be spent playing minecraft(which for a game in alpha dev stage has never frozen or bugged out once). I should have waited to get NV i knew it.

I have experienced this bug, however I cycle 3-4 saves for each playthrough, I was able to reload one of the other saves and play again normally.

For that matter, that's a tip I'd give ANYONE playing this game, cycle multiple saves for each playthrough, 3+ should be good, when you save, overwrite the oldest one. Simply relying on one save and the AUTO is basically suicide. Auto saves are the work of the devil.

Cycling saves is how I was able to complete the game my second playthru (my first ended 42 hours in with the dlc bug). I would definetely recommend that to anyone trying to finish the game
