DLCExpansion content - What should be added?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 3:51 am

No no no, no damn "I want a DLC set in X!"

(When I say DLC I mean expansion as well, I'm just too lazy to write the two over and over)

What content do you think the DLC's should bring?
I'm kinda confused as to how this will work out.

Take Fallout 3 for example.
As an Energy Weapons user I got a sniper from O:A, I got a shotgun from The Pitt, I got another shotgun and a power cannon in BS, I got a hilarious brain popper in PL and a whole arsenal in MZ.
Weapons in Fallout 3 had varying stats to make each different to use.

Same with New Vegas, in DM I got an automatic sniper, I got a paralyzing pistol in HH, I got a new rifle that suprass the previous two rifles plasma and laser in OWB and I got the amazing super flare-gun in LSR.

But what do I have to look forward to as a Two-Handed Warrior type?
A new perk?
Cause that's about it.
A glass warhammer does nothing different from a daedric or steel or ebony warhammer apart from damage and it's artistic design.
The combat moves are all used up, move to the side, move backwars, stand still, move forward, spring forward and either tap the attack button or hold it in.
The only one I can think of to mix things up is jumping and holding down the attack button for a +% in damage the farther up I jump from.

Same for shields, one handed attacks and dual attacks.
What new can a DLC bring to the table apart from new enchants and arsenals? (Arsenals being the types, glass, daedric, steel, iron. Forsworn and Falmer were new types for Skyrim.)

Magic is easy to add stuff to, but what content is there for archers, assassins and warriors to change things up?
Only thing I can think of is new perks, maybe new enchants and a jump+attack move. Perhaps new kill animations but I personally don't really think those add to anything.

Why I'm concerned about this is because: In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, once I had all the DLC's the gameplay became different, improved at some parts and broken in others.
But I don't see what there is to add for warriors, archers and assassins, will the gameplay be any different for them once every DLC is out?

Anyway, what do you think should be added to Skyrim?
The DLC's are a way to give official content to expand the game.
What is needed?
What new perks, gameplay mechanics, NPC interactions, crafting formulas, magic, combat mechanics do you think Skyrim desperately needs to be even better than it already is?
(And please be realistic with the suggestions.)

For me, a jump + attack would be nice to have, I'd also like it if there were combo attacks for warrior types, so that tap tap hold does one type of attack while tap hold does another and hold hold does another. (Or is this in already cause I haven't seen it.)
And of course for Archers to get localized damage, head shots does x1.5 damage, kneeshots causes a direct stumble, a arm attack has a 5% chance for enemies to drop their weapons.

why does it have to add to an already great combat system? All they need to do to the combat system is rescale werewolf form and destruction magic. Both get very weak as you level up. As far as DLC I want some great new adventures possible expanding the world of skyrim it's self.

Because it gets tedious and repetitive.
And even if it's great it could be better.

It's only repetitive if you let it be. there are so many styles you can chose without being locked into any particular style. You can change your style on the fly.
ex.: Maybe I'm an Imperial warrior who learns about the mage's college and decide to drop my shield for a spell.

Perhaps you're concentrating too hard on the gameplay?

This game is all about imersion and environment, so I would guess they add more of that primarily.

As far as gameplay:

Bug fixes aside, I really hope they add more relevance to destruction (need mods to fix it currently), more flavor to conjuration, and nerf the crap out of smithing/chanting/alch et al.

As for melee, I can't really find a happy medium between bash stuff up all the time and "man it takes too long to kill this" when determining how powerful to make my character (since we can, after all, easily).

Thief types are overpowered and boring, thus perhaps adding enemies who directly counter their abilities. The current amount of enemies who can kill a good stealther (very few) makes the game boring if you truly want to be a silent killing machine, right?

Also, harder dragons appearing quicker. One shouldn't have to wait until very late levels to get a challenge from them. Use of cover is vital later if and when they fry/freeze you with rediculous breath. I want that experience every time I face the ultimate mythical beast.

That doesn't fix anything.
Yeah I can change my style if I want to, but doesn't that mean that I change it once I get bored of playing it?
Like after X amount of hours I get bored with twohanded and change to onehanded + shield instead, it means that Two-Handed wasn't fixed at all, I changed to a new style because it got repetitive and boring.
The DLC's are a way for them to add new content and freshen things up, that's why I want other combat styles to improve and not only for Magic to get tons of new fun stuff to use.

Anyway your argument is flawed though as at lvl 45 changing to onehanded means my damage will be complete [censored] as I haven't put out any perks into that skill and enemies have scaled way above that damage.

I'm just saying that if I want to buy the next 4 DLC's that there should be something rewarding with buying them.
Cause a 3-5 hour story will be fun at first but since ES is very linear it will be over quickly and not that much fun to replay.
I want the DLC's to actually expand upon the main game.
The DLC's are a great excuse for Bethesda to flesh out 2hand, 1hand, shield, assassin and archer.

[edit]

Oh! And I want Smiths to be able to upgrade my equipment, but never to Legendary and it's gonna cost a crapload of money.
