To my knowledge there is no talking them out of it.

If you have enough science i think you can change thier course on the console next to the launch button, but i didnt have enough science at the time so i dont know what that does.

I tried and failed. But did upgrade their trajectory. You have to feel for the ghouls, who are discriminated against in the Fallout universe, so I helped them out. I also did not talk the human who thinks he's a ghoul out of his viewpoint. Though, that's ended up with him somewhat glitched (he won't leave or open up dialogue after the Bright Brotherhood leave).

I just did this quest with a developed character and the only thing you can do is alter the trajectory of the rockets. There is no talkin them out of the great journey, so i was nice and got them a little closer to their destination!

Why isn't there an option "I just want to hear Flight of Valkyrie and see those crazy rocket fly?"

Well, that's effectively what option 2 is

Spoiler
Keeps more alive, and I think they help protect the town of Novac upon their return, depending on the ending.

Why would I care? They'll be fine.

At least it's one less crazy cult I need to worry about on Earth.

The weird part about them is that they have no ending slide. I've beaten the game now like 4 times and not once did the endings explain what happened to them.

Ha! I told the human that he was pathetic, then i set the console to cause the rockets to crash into each other.

They'll have to sew your rotting flesh back together, IN H3LL! Stupid brain eaters.

I helped the human guy who's name I can't recall. Got him to realize he's a regular human and that they were going to leave him behind.

Blew those silly bastards to smithereens.

I always like the ghouls that retain their sanity, and even though I thought they were misguided, I tried to help them as best I could once I realised that I couldn't talk them out of it.

Spoiler

One thing I noticed was that last playthrough I didn't optimise their trajectory before takeoff because my science wasn't high enough and I was finding Bright Brotherhood bodies littering the Mojave in strange places far away from the test site afterwards, this playthrough I optimised trajectory and haven't yet found a single body - so I'm hoping that this time I did the right thing.

I helped them through 3-4 playthroughs and that human guy is always glitched saying "not now the great journey is about to begin"
he never tells me to go launch them or to do anything but i have to go up to the launch site anyway......
i rest i fast travel blah blah hes still glitched i convinced him to go to novac and help them out.....
anyone know what happens if he does go??

I've helped them on both of my playthroughs. You cannot talk them out of it, with the exception of the human, Chris. Altering the trajectory doesn't do anything that I can tell that will actually affect the game, other than giving good karma. I was hoping to find their rockets sometime, but oh well.
