Does Anyone Know What The Real Time Is?

Post » Sun Dec 04, 2011 11:19 pm

apparently the interwebz and whichever radio station is carrying that secret government time setter disagree on what time it is. i have one of those auto setting clocks that set the time and date itself but its 9 minutes off from my computer which sets its time over the internet automatically. i "refreshed" both of them but they are still off. i think public radio is the one that sends out that radio signal if i recall correctly...........so is that one correct or the internets one?

Try http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Pacific/d/-8/java. If you're not in the U.S., find a converter on google.

Does anybody really care?
If so I can't imagine why

My PC & mobile devices sync with time.windows.com, and my phones from a FIOS signal. Both are reliable. I'd go with Internet time, not a radio signal unless it's a satellite broadcast.

Read up on your Einstein. Time is all relative. No such thing as 'real' time. Its pretty trippy if you think about it.

edit: Just scrolled down the front page and there is another thread about Einstein's theory. What are the chances?

"Folks,
As vou can see for yourself.
The way this clock over here
is behaving,
TIME IS OF AFFLICTION!
Now this might be cause for alarm
Among a portion of you, as,
From a certain experience,
I TEND TO PROCLAIM:
'THE EONS ARE CLOSING'!"

By the time you look up the time you realize that you're horribly out of date...

to find the real time you need to set up a sun dial, but of course the time would only be accurate within a small radius

I always think it's funny when in movies everyone has the exact same time. Something is supposed to happen at 3:05 and everyone looks at some random clock for the exact time... We all know in real life, everyone has at least 5 minutes more, or less, then the "precise official" time. I use clocks and watches with hands because it gives me an average with one look, not digital to-the-second precise display... it's just seems absurd to me.

Stop. Its hammer time

seriously, no one else even thought to post that?

we to add to other peoples posts about einstien and relativity, why not put one clock in a bus and carry the other on a bicycle and ride it really fast in the other direction. it won't make your clocks agree to the difference between nine minutes, but you will have wasted nine minutes any ways so it won't matter any more.
