Does anyone NOT use enchanting?

Just curious is all. I haven't tried it out myself yet cause of how broken and overpowered I hear it is. Wondering if this is true cause I really don't want to make the game any easier.

I have a level 31 assassin (Argonian), a level 30 warrior (Nord), and a level 20 mage (High Elf).

Assassin didn't really use crafting, warrior smithed (full legendary Dragonbone), and mage enchants. Fortifying magicka, raising rate of magicka regeneration, and lowering cost of Destruction spells. I have almost 500 Magicka IIRC.

If they all got in a fight, my mage would likely definitely win.

Ah come on. Just have your assassin sneak up on him slice his throat...lol. I currently have an assassin and warrior, both with full smithing which I like. Enchantments seem almost unnecessary. On a mage, I can see it being useful. I haven't tried a mage yet but will very soon. I just don't want to spoil the game by basically one-shotting everything with my daedric sword of cheeze whiz.

I use it as a way to make money. I don't use any fortification enchantments or potions. Just soul trap on my weapons and a pocket full of empty gems. I actually prefer using my vanilla flavored legendary daedric armor and weapons. In the end, its completely up to you how its used

I will at some point on some character, but so far, no. Well smithed but otherwise plain armor and weapons seem powerful enough for me on normal difficulty.

its not broken and it is powerful but thats how its suppose to be, its a game mechanic to get powerful...bethesda makes their games and gives you the freedom to make a super warrior or super wizard or wasteland God or you can choose not to do that...you're suppose to be able to enchant your weapons and gear...its not cheating to do that...its fun to be powerful its a fantasty game...if you want it hard don't use enchanting, don't use strong gear or strong weapons, you can always raise the difficulty level also.

Enchanting is not overpowered. Combining it with a crapton of potions that multiplies its effects are. I am working on smithing and enchanting, but neither are OP really. It's just people have the urge to get to level 100 smithing at level 1 and then get daedric at level 5 or something and get 100% spell reduction and fortify health by 25000 or something.

its only overpowered if you deliberately abuse it or exploit it. you control how overpowered you want it to be. if you just play normally and progress your smithing/enchanting throughout th course of the game without deliberately exploiting or level grinding it to 100 as early as possible, the gear you make is still reasonable

I use it to make money. It's only over-powered if you can be bothered to put in the perks and use alchemy to boost it.

I have 100 in both Enchanting and Smithing and can make gear not even the Riverwood trader can afford to buy after being invested in. My mage has never used any of it and just dumps the stuff into a container as she makes it.

alternatively , you could abuse it but also raise the difficulty to master.

Enchanting is only OP when combined with reusable soul gems and soul trap.

This. I have a mage who is level 28, he has put 4 perks into enchanting but only disenchants, and enchants what he actually uses. I never grind and my enchantment is about 45 or so right now..... You have to grind to overpower smithing, alchemy, enchant.... otherwise they raise fairly slowly through normal roleplaying and gameplay.

My assassin uses enchanting but hasn't gotten any perks for it. So I can put small very reasonable bonuses on the gear I want.

i'm against any type of nerfing, i hear some people saying "oh i don't use enchanting and i'm a mage" BIG DEAL!...thats what i say to that...enchanting is in the game and i use it, it serves some good purposes..for one thing your followers don't level so being able to double enchant gear is a big help to keeping them more viable as you level up...also the enemies are tough so you do need to be able to augment your skills and spells and weapons..thats just a game mechanic..you can't stay struggling the entire game, at some point you want to have a lot of tools at your disposal and some overpowered stuff...thats kinda fun to work up to that. so heck yeah i use enchanting...i mean i don't usually get the perk to double enchant till level 40 or so..so its not like you just start the game and have some super avatar.

I still play my super-overpowered min-maxed character. She's not even quite as overpowered as she could be, since I stopped at Ebony armor and weapons, and am only using single enchants and not double.

Yeah, every character I've started since then, I've tried to avoid grinding skills as much as possible (if I manage to acquire a ton of ore or alchemy ingredients, I'd still rather use them than sell them, but I don't set out to acquire tons of materials on purpose anymore), but I can't be the only one who enjoys a good roflstompfaceroll dungeon run every now and then....

I find that playing with what drops keeps the game fun. It's way too easy to outpace the competition with the crafting skills.

I have 160+ hours with my warrior character and haven't touched either enchanting or alchemy, he hasn't yet had the need. I will save those for future characters. :)

I found some overpowerd enchanted items.Such as an ebony boots that gaved me 40% fire resistant and another Ebony bow that gaved 60 points of magika damage...of course i would use them

After having the ability to put two enchants on every item, I haven't been able to stop myself from enchanting with every character. It's much stronger than every other random or quest reward item in the game, and you can tailor it to match your character's build.

I wouldn't call it overpowered unless you combine it with the alchemy/smithing loop, but it's definitely powerful. That's fine with me, because I'm the dragonborn, dangit.
