Does everyone not understand what a forum is or something?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 11:09 am

Forums are for helping people out and discussing this amazing game, which Bethesda spent ages creating for us, not for posting posts about how the game is horrible. Honestly, all these haters, I'd love to see someone do a better job at creating a game. But seriously, these forums should be for discussing the game, not just pointing out the games flaws. If you have found a bug, or don't like Steam, then go on the technical forums, if you don't know how to complete a quest or it's not finishing, go on the spoiler forums. Seriously, I'm trying to look for people who actually want to discuss this game, not pick it apart! Who else agrees?

So forums are for only expressing happy-feel-good thoughts? Everyone should agree here? Expressing frustration and offering criticism is mostly aimed at improving the overall quality of the product. If you do not agree with their opinions, fine. There is very few malicious hate for the game. Most posts on here might be negative, but for the most part constructive. Saying "I hate Skyrim" is different than "I hate Skyrim because they homogenized the game too much versus Morrowind which was more complex of an RPG." That is the most common gripe, and completely valid.

Discussing the game includes discussing both the good and the bad.

This.

I'd love to see how Skyrim would've turned out without the complaints Oblivion got.

I give you the perfect forum post:

I love the game ... But ... (insert here everything the OP would agree with. Peace bro!).

Forums are for people to show their wisdom to the world, so that all may bask in the one true valid fact (something so right could never be an opinion!).

Any dissenters to the voice of the OP are to be crushed underfoot.

This sadly is a gaming forum and as such will be chock full of that which you hate, until a large portion of those playing leave or find something to alleviate their woes with the game this will not change. Welcome to the internet!

That's not what I mean, there is plenty of hate posts on here. Bethesda should really create a different forum for constructive criticism, I just want to be able to have an actual conversation with people and discuss stuff. Yes, some are indeed understandable, but some are just stupid.

This is an aspect of nerd rage I have trouble understanding. I don't spend any time on something I don't like. If I hated Skyrim, I wouldn't be here complaining about it. I would have sold it back to gamestop and moved on with my life.

For instance, I bought "Alice The Madness Returns". I had that game for two flippin days before selling it. Trust me I have NEVER visted the "Alice" forum. Don't even know what it looks like.

Whatever, the whining and nerd rage is hilarious so secretly I'm glad they do it. People getting all serious and OUTRAGED over a fricken video game is great for laughs.

Yes, but people should at least balance it out with some good things, and not just focus on the bad things. I mean, honestly the only thing I don't like about the game is that the UI could be a wee bit more accurate, but that's it, otherwise it's an amazing game.

As a Moderator, let me tell you what a forum is:

Simply, a place for people to discuss and share ideas. It is not for one sole member to decide what is and is not a valid topic for discussion here. If only people who shared one singular opinion were allowed on here, I think this would be a very boring place.

Now, constructive criticism is a lot better as an avenue of discussion, but Skyrim General is for anyone's general feelings about specific elements of the game - good or bad. Cheat, Hints, and Spoilers are for just that - anyone looking for help with a quest, or who wants to talk about a specific event within the game. Skyrim Mods is pretty self-explanatory. And the Issues forums are for those having trouble running their game.

I think that pretty much covers it.
