Does Skyrim on PS3 run as good as the 360 version?

Post » Sat Nov 03, 2012 12:32 am

I know Skyrim on PS3 was a disaster on release and there's still no DLC but all of that aside does it run as good as the 360 version after all these patches?

You should ask this in the PS3 sub-forum.

From what I've read on the Forums here, no it does not.

I don't want to sound biased as I am a 360 Gamer, but I'd go with either 360 or PC version of the game, IMHO.

I'm a PS3 player, and yeah, I agree with the above. Go with 360 or PC. The PS3 version, with the exception of the lucky few, is a broken mess for PS3 players.

This was the final drop for me, so I traded my copy and bought it on xbox.

There is also relatively bad fps on xbox, but considerably better then Ps3.

The general stability is somewhat better plus you get dlc, so if you can choose between the two it's a no-brainer.

I bought this game on a ps3, wanted the dlc so I bought a 360, the answer is quite simply NO! The 360 version vastly better ;)

I've got TES: V on both Xbox and PS3. The Xbox runs my game almost flawlessly; wheras on PS3 I started having some problems with lagging and whatnot just before I bought an Xbox.

I would not bother with the PS3 if I were you, and had a choice in the matter.

I still cant get into the water without the game freezing {ps3}. Other than that, i havent had many issues.

Have you deleted and re-installed your Game Data Utility AND the game updates? You have to delete and re-install both. I did this on my PS3 months ago, it should work...

Here's a handy reminder: never buy anything with the name "Bethesda" for PS3.

Oblivion works fine on my PS3, actually. There is some issues with slow-downs and hiccups, and occasional freezes (maybe once a month), but these issues don't happen very often. The Xbox also suffers from these exact same issues when it comes to TES: IV.

No it doesn't. They did a bad job porting it to the other platform and it's a mess in a lot of areas. If you got the PC to handle it, I would get it for that.

You should ask this in the PS3 sub-forum.

It's actually a fair question for the general board, since they do inquire about other platforms it becomes a general question.

This happened to me once, deleted the game data and re-installed and it's been fine ever since.I must be one of the "lucky ones" as the game runs fine on my PS3,other than the water freeze thing I've never had any problems....the lack of DLC is a bit of a pisser though.

The game runs okay, but I don't know how well the 360 version runs. I just know the PS3 version can be a chore to play at times. It just was optimized horribly. The PC version is better, but it also is optimized in a not so wonderful way. I have a low/mid end laptop, so that might be why it required a million tweaks for my crappy Intel chipset to not be a jerk towards it.

The OP should visit the PS3 Hardware/Software issues area of this forum, just to get a glimpse of what's in store if he/she decides to go PS3. Five minutes of reading threads in that forum (the hatred, the flaming, etc.) should convince him or her not to go PS3, I would think, if we cannot. :whistling:

Reading the issue subforums may teach the OP something we obviously never learned. Bethesda games=broken. PC players have an amazing mod community that can fix everything, and even make the game better, meanwhile consoles, especially the PS3, are left to twist in the wind after wasting money of defective games that will never be fixed.

Yes, that is the exception, because the porting wasn't done by Bethesda themselves :lmao:

I have yet to ever have this problem... I actually swim a lot underwater (it's fun to find clams!) and have never ONCE had it freeze up on me.

Was this back before the most recent patches that you had this problem?

Take your money and invest into something else. Remember, you get what you pay for and this system isn't worth the hassle on most multiplatform games. Freezes, fuped frame rates, year long DLC delays, and one pissed off attitude is all your going to get with this system. Get a PC, or a 360 if your into Bethesda's work.

Skyrim has ran quite fine on my PS3, but general belief and experience is that it runs better on Xbox 360 / PC (assuming your PC has the right specs).

I started on the ps3 and it was fine for a while until the bugs, but yeah 360 had bugs to, but then the dlc issue manifested it's ugly head, and I really wanted hearthfire, I've wanted it's features since morrowind. so I bought an xbox, you can actually get a bundle as of now where you get skyrim free. anyway upon playing there was a noticable diffrence, it had more clarity, it was a sharper image then the ps3, and the xbox in general was I think better set up then the ps3 with it's menus and such.

I don't know about all that...

I play on PC as well as Xbox 360, and both of those run just fine for me and many others. I agree that the PS3 has many issues, but Skyrim runs very well indeed on my 360.

PS3 user here and I also agree with this. If you're asking because you're considering the purchase of the game, I'd go straight to PC or Xbox. If you have a PS3, buy it used. Do not reward Bethesda for their failure by getting it for PS3 and then again for another platform.

I can't compare with how it runs on Xbox, but my game worked fine on PS3 - except for occasional freezes - for the first seven months or so. Since then, an increased amount of lagging, stuttering anf freezes. It's very far from being unplayable, and I haven't encountered any bugs that are unique for PS3, but it's annoting. I wouldn't recommend buying it for PS3, especially since we still don't have any DLCs. Personally, I plan on switching to PC when I get the opportunity.

Oblivion, Fo3, FoNV and Skyrim are fine on PS3.

Aside from long loading screens and poor frame-rate compared to my PC, not much wrong with the ps3 version. No DLC though, but I don't mind.

Never play a Bethesda game on consoles.

Too many reasons to play on PC, too many reasons not to play on consoles.
