Does snitching on the elder lead anywhere?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:05 pm

So i took Hardin's side, long story short how long do I wait til something happens with the elder, I told him about the patrols and he said he had much to do.

the elder says hes preparing a defence for hardin's accusations

Ive waited 3 days, no changes

How much longer for you awesome G.E.C.K. Script checkers?

You have to go out side of the bunker wait three days, come back and he will be sitting in the elders chair, and give you a new quest that will let you join the brotherhood.

Hmm not sure then, because I told him how to have the Elder removed then the patrol (it completed still in the dark), then I left the Bos bunker stood next to the locker where they put all your weapons and ammo. I waited three days there went back in a Knight met me on the stairs said i could pick up free ammo. Then went down to the second floor and the old elder was gone, and hardin was there and gave me the quest tend to your business.

I think I may have glitched the Elder change in this quest, I first told Elder McNamara about the 3 scouts and then completed the still in the dark quest, then I talked to hardin and told him about the orders that McNamara gave to his troops and now i have waited over 7 days and still no elder change

I can confirm that waiting outside for 3 days (outside the entire bunker) made Hardin take over.

Thanks :)

I've done all this, got myself membership then realised I can't persuade them to join me as I'm presently either doing yes man or house... so if I want to remain in the BoS I have to overthrow house, even though I actually think he'll probably make a good leader. D'oh.

Or is there a way round this? (or am I going to have to check in with yes man?)

Just leave the bunker, do some side questing, and come back. A BoS scout should run out and tell you how much better it is now and blah blah blah, then you can talk to the previous elder, who is still stationed in the same room, and he'll give you the option to join the BoS if you complete a quest. Do that quest and you'll become a BoS paladin and get a set of power armor and the ability to use the BoS supply shop.

I screwed myself over like this, too; I reflexively told Yes Man to ignore them, not realizing it might be possible to negotiate. I also completed their questline fully before House told me to blow them up. This resulted in a bizarre situation where I could tell House both that I had made the Brotherhood agree to help NCR, or that I had gotten the Brotherhood to attack NCR when the dam battle started, one after the other. However, I never actually talked to anyone in the Brotherhood to determine these things.

I think having Yes Man ignore them and completing the BoS questline prematurely screwed me over, but tbh I'm really not sure. I'd love to find out how I can get them to show up at the dam battle supporting the NCR. The only way I can think of so far is asking the NCR ambassador about it when he gives you the mission. However, the GECK does contain a possibility for convincing House that the Brotherhood could be useful against the NCR, so who knows.
