Does Veronica get tougher ?

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 8:01 pm

I'm all for her putting the smack down on enemies, and when she connects she definitely does damage.

Except she doesn't seem very tough....even in T 51-B PA and Power Fist. She goes down embarrassingly easy in some fights. A couple of mantis's took her down...and she was cringing when they tore her intestines out and began to eat her alive. She was healed when the fight began and it seemed to only take a couple of blows for her to run and die.

Does she need a better weapon...?

Is her ability to fight well based on my Charisma ( 4 ) ? What gives....should I just go back to Boone ?

I heard she was such a bad ( You know what ) I wanted a rock em sock em fighter,

Playing hardcoe...

What lvl did you get her at? From what I heard there is a bug that makes it so she doesn't lvl with you like the other companions do.

If you're on PC, google the Veronica Level Fix. She'll become what you were expecting.

If you're on a console, sorry. She's broken and you'll have to wait for a patch.

Although she has this fasination with pounding things....her energy weapons skill is just as good. Give her a nice plasma rifle and tell her to go ranged, she is much more effective then and wont die as much.

If you give her the "Pushy" gauntlet, she knocks enemies away from her and takes less melee damage while you can shoot them.

Veronica's bugged, and is stuck at level twelve. Luckily, it's an easy fix if you're on a PC. Find her in the GECK, go to her stats page and check the "PC Level Mult" box. Done.

Console users are out of luck until she's patched.

She won't use any energy weapon I give her, but she'll use guns. Wonder why that is.

Repair those guns and give her ammo. I had her with a Gauss - no problem. Best gun for her I think is Q-35 since she doesn't spend as much ammo as with other typical choices (Laser RCW, Gauss, Triple-beam, Multiplas).

She is tough enough in MQ, but not against the Wild animal or abominations.

I think so too. She guns down most human enemies in a jiffy, but gets killed by high end monsters like deathclaws. That's just about righ in my opinion. The last thing I'd want is a companion that does all the killing for me and never gets hurt very much. And I dislike how companions heal up automatically after a battle. I think they should require stimpaks the same as the player.

Deatclaws outreach her - and she has no VATS to exploit so she can't beat them the way unarmed player normally would. Cazadores typically crowd her too fast for her to be able to deal with. You should switch her to ranged for those powerful monsters, give her Q-35 or even better Gauss, if you have MFCs to throw away and let her spam projectiles as they approach her. She will switch to unarmed when face to face but enemy will already be pelted down while he's at her so she cna sneak the killing blow.

Oh and make sure you have the fix for her HP, she's paper-thin without it - while after she gets it and lvl 20 she really packs it in a brotherhood armor.

I have a question for you guys.... Are you all helping her and fighting too?
I have never had a problem with her being crowded or over powered alot considering i feel i can take on all opponents before we go into battle as i played that way in FO3 so in this game im the same but if you pop people as they come you can easily take out a few before they reach you or injure them enough when she can 1 shot em.
Now i know you guys obviously fight with her but try new stratagies possibly. It may help and it may not but i feel she makes up for the lost perks (though i prefer perks to companions that r buggy as hell) I just cant see why peple are having issues with her... ED-E , Rex and the others except the "overpowered super ultimate sniper Boone" yes but veronica and boone are both good companions, veronica is by far better though i feel if you want the game to feel more natural

Installed the Veronica Fix....loaded game...her HPs jumped by over 100 !

I'm also going to let her use the Q-35 for ranged and the PF for up close and personal.

Thanks for help and the link to the Veronica Fix.

All the girl (include Lily) have little trouble against Cazadors (maybe because I gave them Power Armour?), in fact, it strikes me how easy they are when you have companions.....

In fact, I think Cass took down the Legendary Cazador while I was just killing normal ones.......

How do you find the npc stats in game (not wiki)? You said they jumped over 100 and I'm just trying to understand how you know what they are. Thanks

You can see their life in the companion wheel. And if you have a PC you can use getav for any other stat.

In her companion wheel when you hover over different positions you will get her stats displayed. For example when you hover over weapon you get informed what she uses and when you hover over stimpak usage you see her health.

This is also important for Cass because there's a glitch with her HP-giving perk and you need to reload your game if she doesn't receive the bonus.

If I was making Veronica, I'd give her more than 6 END, would make her even more hardened. Well, I guess I can fix that in GECK too. :-p

Thanks for heads up about Cass.

I used her for awhile ( started her quest ) but her shotgun and having to drink all the time to use her perk made me choose Veronica over her. ( But I want to finish her quest later on )

I would use Boone but I need to talk to Caesar and we all know how Boone feels about the Legion. Later on I'm taking Boone Legion hunting though...should be fun, but right now I'm just questing.

Veronica does last longer in combat now...much longer.

Lily is the SM ?

Blue [censored] up insane babbling [censored] idiotic mutant. She's good in combat, packs an assault carbine and exceptional melee skills on top of her mutant protection - but for [censored]'s sake, I can't listen to her stupid lines for a minute. They should make her "Wild Wasteland" while normal people would get Marcus instead.

I took boone with me when I went to visit Ceaser and he managed not to blow everyone's head off. Just stood there like a good boy. And on my console, so far, Veronica seems to do just fine with Power Armor and 'Pushy' the Displacer Glove. I can usually manage to pick off several enemies before they get close and she just pops the rest of them with the glove with relative ease. Maybe mine's not jipped, but I haven't noticed her svcking too much. She has more clever lines than Boone, too. Very comical.
