He continued on his quest as though you were with him.You will find him where the quest leads but I don't know if you can tell him to follow you or if you are now stuck finishing the quest?

If this is the dog I am thinking of, then once he gets to the place he needs to go to, then he is there.

Either at the goal of the quest, or at Clavicus Vile's statue in the cave (don't remember the name anymore, it's south of High Hrothgar, at the foot of the mountain. Just follow the path and you'll find the entrance). Barbas went to the statue in my game when I told him to bugger off.

"Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf!"
"What is it, Timmy? Barbas gone missin'?"
"Arf! Arf!
"Well, where is he?"
"Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf! Arf!"
"Haemar's Shame? You sure?"
"Arf! Arf!"
"Awright, Timmy. But if he ain't there, I'ma gonna sock you on the nose with a scroll of Banish Daedra!"
"(whimper)"

True, but he is a nice doggie. Rupert, my Nord warrior, picked him up in my last game session and its amazing how having a dog in tow changes the game. Now I have to keep Meeko alive as well as Alea, but the effect, if one is prepared to role play, is to deepen the game. If only I could get him to shut up. God knows how we will manage the next time we go into a Falmer dungeon.

Yes, his bark is worse than his bite. OTOH, he knows how to play dead very effectively. Actually, I wonder at Meeko for the typical player. We all start in the middle of the map. Somehow, none of my characters every immediately sets out for the NW corner. Meeko tops out at level 25, so I guess if you make a beeline for Solitude to join the Empire, maybe he'll be of some use for a while.
