Im doing a little unorthodox modding

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:22 am

(It never happened) Keep reading. What Ive done is used the console to make my Nord 0.83 standard height so he kid of looks live a dwarf. With full dwarven on he actually does look like a dwarf. He even runs slower because of his small-ness. (Almost to where I need help)

Anyways, I want to make a city of Dwarves. I have one of two things planned and Im not sure how to do one, or if its even possible with only using the console.

What they are; I want to make Blackreach, or some other dwarven ruin empty of all hostile life and will never respawn, than copy some NPC's to populate the area and downsize them all to my height. Then I want to throw down a few dwarven spiders and other sentrys and make them non-hostile. Is that possible all in the console? Thats what I need help with.

or, even easier

I will run around Markarth and Change everyones height so they look like midgets. Also is this as simple as ''NPCNameHere.Setscale .83" or can I not do that?

If you managed to get this far, then you know what I need help with. Can this be done?

Please note, this must all be done with no third party mods, just the console for personal reasons.

Before your thread gets locked, I'll let you know your thread is gonna get locked. Cuz we can't talk about modding on consoles or something.

Lol. This wont get locked, if I understand correctly. You're using the console (~) key on PC to make your Nord character shorter, correct? You're not on Xbox 360 or PS3?

If this is the case, you'll want to look into the Creation Kit, it is very capable of doing everything you are trying to do. It's PC only, modding on Xbox 360 and PS3 cannot be done, and is forbidden to speak of :P (basically)

I hardly mess with the CK (Creation Kit), so if that is what your interested in, I'll let somebody else help you :)

Yes im using the (~)key. Yes thats right, im not on xbox  . But ive been running around Markarth and jsut manually making people, chairs, horses, and a few select items shorter and or smaller. However the part about permanently clearing a Dwemer ruin I still have questions about whether or not I can just type something in the Console and perminantly clear it with no respawn. I have looked at all the console commands but I can only really make since of about 60% of them as I am not used to Skyrim on PC just yet.

What you want to achieve should really be done by using the CK. I am not sure how well a change made to any NPC by console will hold up through cell resets. The Creation Kit Forum is really a better place to ask this kind of a question.

Well, ok thank you for the info. From what I gathered I need to seek help elsewhere but thanks though. For now I'll continue manually doing things and see if they will survive a cell reset or not. If so than I guess I kind of fixed my own problem.

I *suppose* some of the things you want can be done with a console, but as far as I can tell, you cannot prevent enemies from respawning just with the console. I'm also quite sure that making critters non-hostile would be quite a problem.

I understand that using the console seems easy, or at least easier then using the Construction Kit, but you really should try that one. The Construciton Kit is a free to use software and if you put some time into it, it can be quite easy to learn. Most of the things, if not all, you described and desire should be quie simple to achieve via the CK.

Dwarves are not short. Like most mer, they are taller than humans.

Hes talkign about Dwarves in the Tolkien or other fantasy series out there that are predominately Featured as Short Ale drinking Axe wielders with an atitude that live underground.

judging form the one living dwemer and the specters seen in dwemer ruins, I would say that they were not taller then humans. Bosmer are the shortest race, so the argument that being mer means being tall does not stand. As I see it (my personal obseravation, not confirmed), the dwemer specters were a bit shorter then Dunmer and mabye a bit taller then Bosmer males. Hard to say about the one livnig Dwemer as he is all bloated and his height is hard to judge due to the prothetics. Still, though, you are right that TES dwemer are not the same as Tolkien (or most fantasy) dwarves in many respects.

Exactly, nothing wrong here. I guess some people didn't read your first post properly and only saw the words 'unorthodox', 'modding' and 'console'. ;)
