Doing the main quest before anything else

I found that if you do the main quest before anything else in the game, it is a hell of a lot more fun. You come out of the main quest as the slayer of the world eater. and from then on every other quest in the game is easy no matter what difficulty you have it on.

When I finally do get to make some mods I personally would love to see only a two things implemented. everything else is great as is.

First off I would like to somehow make smithing something you can choose to do. if you play the way I do, you will get your ass beat at around level 15 to 20. The way I play is very direct, if I am on a mission, I finish that mission to its end. I don't leave a dungeon and come back to it later. if the bad guys are too high level, svcks to be me cause I aint quitting til i killed them. if i upped my smithing however, this doesn't happen. This has the unfortunate side effect of making smithing completely required for most character types. Including stealth based characters.

The other thing is NPC greetings. some dude on here pointed me to a mod that he made that didn't work at all. but his mod didn't fix it the right way anyway. I dont care that NPCs talk at me. its what they say. for instance when I am in whiterun and im smithing some armor. This woman with severe daddy issues is out there, and about 20 times in less than ten minutes she will say something about her father. "have you seen my father?" "Lets just say i advise the adviser, and leave it at that." it would be well and good if she said it exactly once. and after that never said it again. usually when i start a new game the first thing I do when i get to whiterun is kill her, and serve my jail time. the other thing is when you go through a faction, say, the companions for example, you have gotten all the way to the end of it, and now you are finished. the guards will still comment "Oh you are that new member of the companions. What do you do? fetch the mead?"

No I don't fetch the mead.

I don't mind the arrow in the knee comment, and other comments like it. I don't hear them that often anyway.

the rest of the game. Very well done.

For the first part, I disagree, as do many people. Most people say Smithing IS ridiculously overpowered, but you are the first I've seen who has said they get killed a lot without doing some serious investing in it. I myself have a level 30 something character that never wears any armor or even fights, and only relies on my companions. I do just fine, even on Master.

For the second thing, I agree. I understand WHY it is like that, as having a lot of unique dialogue takes time, money, and disk space. However, having some kind of a timer set up on it that won't trigger a greeting again for at least 24 hours AFTER you leave the cell. If you go back before the timer is up it resets. Easy fix.

Are you talking http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=746 mod? It definitely works, and although you don't mind what they say it really helps immersion when you have a playthough where the guards don't say that [censored], they just say nothing. I find it's better then having them say stuff like "what do you do fetch the mead."

Telling the ending of the game? Nice spoiler....

Yes alot of people might have figured it out already, but it doesn't matter, since this is supposed to be in the spoiler section.

Agreed, that could have been at least in a spoiler tag. But we all knew that the good guy was going to win and the bad guy was going to lose, and we knew that Alduin was the bad guy. We can put 2 and 2 together.

But that's not what the thread is about anyways.

Your character beats the Big Bad! Holy crap, spoiler! :flamethrower:

Of course, he was just kidding. We all know that when you finish the game, Mister/Misses Main Character gives his/her life to stop Alduin from destroying the world, but it still gets destroyed anyway when the Gray Beards double-cross you and leave you to die in that ditch in New Vegas next to Nicholas Cage and Luke Cage.

Too many layers of sarcasm now, so I'll just stop being an ass and shut up. >.>

Yeah that's the one. and no it doesn't work. I followed the instructions precisely. i installed it exactly as it instructed. and my game would not even open before a CTD would occur. so no, it doesn't work. at least not for me. and I don't care to find a work around.

Whatever! What did I spoil? nothing? exactly.

Spoiler
I could have said that parthurnax was a dragon. that you get to go to Sovngarde in order to fight Alduin, and further more I could have also said that you read an elder scroll on top of the throat of the world to go back in time and learn the dragonrend shout. what I did say however, tells you nothing but the fact that you destroy the final boss. i gave away nothing.
