don't any quests work in this game?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:50 am

Quest after quest, wont work, hangs up, bugs out. what a piece of trash i bought!
I would love to love this game, but i want my money back, this is garbage, cant finish nearly 50% of the quests in this game, nor can i remove them from my log! is it just me?
too many quests are not working to be able to list them, (missing in action, Battle born guy will not leave northwatch fortress to safety, Barnus (sp ?) the dog, just stands there, wont talk to me when i follow him to where he goes, Thieves guild quest guys will not go thru the door to the vault to find out they have been robbed, The list goes on and on, what is the point of playing this garbage if it don't work?

Bethesda, you fail!

What are you talking about?

Quests work just fine. I've completed well over 50+ Quests, Side Quests, and Miscellaneous Quests, and none of them have bugged or glitched much less done so in a way that broke them.

I find it very, very difficult to believe that every single quest you have ever embarked upon in Skyrim is broken to the point of not being able to finish any of them.

Try downloading all of the patch updates, that should cure your ails, though I think you are spewing BS... there's simply no way that every single quest is broken unless there is something severely wrong with your chosen gaming machine.

I haven't had trouble with a single quest yet, and have completed most the ones you're complaining about. I also have a very hard time believing that you can't complete 50% of your quests.

Hey, man...Ease up a little.

Sure, there are a few bugged quests. I certainly have a few, and yeah, it's irritating. But this game is COLOSSAL. I've been a gamer since my parents brought home a bloody PONG deck when I was four, and this is easily the most immersive, deep, content-rich game I've ever had the pleasure to play. So, it's inevitable that when trying to create such a fully-realized universe with countless inter-connected storylines, that occasionally, small things get a little glitchy here and there. That doesn't mean the game fails, nor does it mean that the BethFolks don't care. It ust means that a handful of zeroes and ones fell through the cracks. And when you consider the billions of lines of code a game like this would need to be comprised of to be what it is, it's staggering that the few tiny glitches that DO exist aren't widespread and rampant.

If nothing else, Bethesda has been very candid and quite proactive about responding to the criticisms of the gaming community, and has done everything they can to support this game. They've released a few patches, and there are more to come. And while some people view this as "OMG BEFEZDA U SHIPT A BROKED GAMEZ I WANT MY MUNNYZ BACK," the vast majority of us are able to keep things in perspective, understand how much work went into making Skyrim as amazing as it is, and are thrilled to the gills to be having such a rich gaming experience.

So, while you're right to have legitimate criticisms, you could certainly go about expressing them with a little less of a sense of entitlement, and a HELL of a lot more tact.

For starters, i did not say *every single quest* Show me where i said that in my post.

I have at least 20 quests that will not complete, the npc will not talk to me, follow me etc

These quests are NOT working, i have nearly 20 in my log that will NOT work, the npc just stands there, hangs up, or will not follow me thru a door, or get hung up in a hallway or a door, this is very fustrating, i even bought the stupid book to see if i was doing something wrong, i'm not, i have all the patches that this steam garbage uploads to me. I did not know when i bought this garbage it was up to ME to fix it so it works

Well obviously its just you so far that has 20 broken quests. Granted there are a couple which I had issues with (the flute and hjerm for example) but no way has there been 20 broken uncompletable quests for myself and for others.

Do us a favor, wipe up the tears and bring it back and get a refund or store credit, this is pointless to do on the forums as you can clearly see.

The only bugged quest I've had yet is that one: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Return_to_Grace. Even if you do it properly, the quest item doesn't get out of the inventory (although it's not stuck in it) and you don't get the reward. At least, after completion, it disappears from the journal.

360+ Hours with two people playing and Blood on Ice and Arniels Endeavors are the only two that I had to console fix. We've done countless new characters, all of the daedric artifact quests, all Thane quests, Civil War quest, Guild quests, and the Main Quest along with piles and piles of side quests or radiant quests - PC

I have figured it out, NO NPC's WILL GO THROUGH DOORS IN MY GAME!
I have watched em for a while now, they get to the door and they stand there, they will not go thru the door, quest or otherwise. nuff said, my game is broke, nobody cares a bit, nor am i interested in going to college to figure out how to fix it it's all good, sorry if i seem upset, i had looked forward to this game, what a disappointment.

First and last bethesda game. Farewell

Well, you chose to title the thread, "Don't ANY quests work in this game?" So I guess you should just feel free to go ahead and do the math yourself.

Well, it looks like Op is in the vast minority of players, or he's flat out lying.

I personally don't think it's the game. I think either it's OP's system, or he tried to employ a cheat of some type and it's gone horribly wrong.

That actually sounds more logical than his original post...

Getting the unusual gems appraised isn't working for me. The guy keeps telling me to piss off.

Im pretty sure most of the time the NPC's follow you, not you follow the NPC's. Have you tried going through the door first, and continue walking away from the door? The NPC's don't like moving when you are close to them.

That's what you get for playing on Xbox! I'm on PC and haven't had any problems. I'm guessing the majority of gamers who reported glitches on PC are playing a partially corrupted torrent.

I think your opinion might be skewed slightly. I play on an Xbox 360 S 250gb HDD, and I've never had any problems. Not even with patch 1.2. Let's stop the platform hate.

We're all Gamers, let's just play.

As a follow up.....
I am on PC....no cheats, mods etc.
4 members of the thieves guild still stand at the door to the guild treasure room after 30 (more) hours of play time. They will not go thru to finish the thieves guild quest.

The guy i am supposed to meet for the blood ritual (underforge i think?) will not go thru the door, i go in....i come out, he remains standing there.

many other quests where the NPC has hung at the door and will not use it....but some do sometimes, (so far all housecarls and followers have used doors)

My pc is a bit old, it runs Skyrim, not great but it runs it ok
Older MSI "K" series MB
AMD athalon x2 2.4Ghz
radeon 5450
4gb ddr2@ 800mhz

I have for the most part quit playing it as it's too frustrating not to be able to do a lot of quests, and boring just killing random bandit camps.
i say again, i would LOVE to play this, but in it's present state......maybe I'll just get an xbox :(

probably the only real quest is figure out how to play this thing without ending up with some bug, probably the hardest quest mankind ever created.
