I don't want to cheat but...

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:04 am

After playing several MMOs over the year I've been a bit spoiled by addons and mods that add in things like bag search and account wide searches for items that tell you exactly where an item you have is so you don't have to spend 3 hour sorthing through things.

I started nerding out again on skyrim the last week after not playing for about a month and discovered I have all the masks but Krosis. The problem being that at one point or another I had said mask but it could literally be anywhere in all of Skyrim at this time. I've searched all the places I thought I might have put it but have had no luck.

So my question is do I have to start off with another save entirely, cheat by adding it to my inventory via console commands (I'd rather not disable my steam achievements since I only have 2 more to get), or is there some sixy search function I don't know about that can give me an idea of where it's at?

EDIT: I suppose my problem could be solved if anyone knows of a way to add an item without disable achievements.

The console commands thing is a rumor at best. I cheated the crap out of my first playthrough and that is where all my achievements came from since all subsequent playthroughs I play in offline mode.

EDIT: the only effect I can see cheating having on achievements is if you lets say cheat to just give you a daedric artifact instead of completing the quest to achieve it which would affect the oblivion walker achievement. Dragon priest masks aren't really a questline.

I don't think the Steam Achievements are effected like they were in Fallout: New Vegas. Anyway, even if it is, all you have to do is open the console, spawn the item, then save the game and exit the game. Then start the game up again and it will never know you opened the console or where the item came from.

BTW, I have one of these masks in one of my houses and I can't find it either. So, I am in the same boat.

Achievements aren't affected by cheats.

I used the console commands for 100,000 gold (Golden Touch achievement), and stored it in a chest somewhere (wasn't actually going to use the gold.)

Right I know where he is originally, the problem is I already killed him and have the mask on this playthrough so unless he respawns with the mask it looks like the console spawn is a decent option
