Done it all. What next?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:36 pm

Alright, so after literally pouring time into New vegas, I have done just about every mission and have discovered literally, EVERY location, as in I can fast travel anywhere. Right now I'm just finishing up the achievements. So, any thing else I can do in this game that will consume large amounts of time and fun, or should I just wait for the DLC.

If you are on PC its time for you to start picking up mods :D
That and start a new playthrough with an entirely different style of playing. For example if you went guns the first time (like most people) go melee or unarmed now

Start a new character that does the exact opposite of your previous character execpt for the karma of the character as that choice is up to you.

What I meant is, are there any un marked out of location repetitive yet still fun things to do, or should I pick up another game until the dlc?

I've tried that. It is so difficult I just have no will power with this play style. Don't get me wrong, its fun. But picking up the Cowboy Repeater that the Fiend dropped from having his head bashed in with the 9 iron is just too tempting.

I'm weak.....

No offense, but how on God's green earth have you played it through 8 times? It's only been out about a month. I'm almost done with my second. Then again, I normally only get to play an hour or two a night if I'm lucky.

I go to college 3 days a week, spend maybe half a days worth of time with my friends a week, then the rest of my time I am sealed in the man cave with a pizza and a 2-liter of rootbeer. Life is good to me.

Must be nice to not have silly things like work and school in the way of your gaming.
I've only got about 40 hours on one playthrough so far. :P

**** gradschool. :P

Then again, I have been waiting on this imaginary comprehensive patch before picking it up again.
Soooo... Sure would be nice if that came out. :P
Announced like, Nov 5? Blech.

Lament over the fact that we are stuck with an ending which rivals the dissapointment of the original FO3 ending :P
Here's to hopeing there is something coming in the future after those canned ending epilogues, even if they clearly stated there will not be.

@naeux

i thought this game had a really satisfying ending. not quite as comprehensive as say the final reels of a decent final fantasy game but it came close. the final battle felt really important and when mr house and his securitrons annihilated general oliver and then turned to essentially crown me as his official right hand man, i felt a rush of power and an evil smile twisted across my face :chaos: then the summing up part came and i wanted to play through again and make the world as happy a place as i could on my next run :)

at what point did it become "wrong" for the end of the game to be, y'know, the end? you don't gloss over the final pages of a book to get to the end and then go back and read it properly.

... Do you have a rooster on the farm which does the wake-up call? :)
I bet you have better internet connection than me though which officially lives 3 houses outside a town of 60K people. :banghead:

Anyway.
Most games don't even give 100 hours of gameplay.
So if you're done with New Vegas it isn't all a bad thing, at least it was a good purchase right?
Btw, Dead Money is coming out Dec 21 for you and me. ;) (Go exbawks!!)

You could always try to concept/role play.
Think of a character and how she views the world, what her goals are, what her personality is and what she knows then play as her.
I played as Jimmy T, a small time punk and I didn't do any exploring with him.
Why?
Cause he didn't know the stuff I knew.
I knew there was a good weapon in a cave and I knew "I" could get it but my character didn't.
So unless my character knows why he/she should go somewhere then he/she is just going to leave it be.
Hell, he was even somewhat of a wuss ass well who didn't like "filthy animals" so he never had any reason to go explore that cave over the hill.
Might not seem like fun at first but throw away your own personality and let the character be in charge, it's fun.
Hell, I didn't do many quests either with him since he didn't care about most people.
And I died a lot too cause I insisted on wearing a grimy pre-war suit, 10mm Sub, Switchblade and Sawed Off Shotgun.

You can go shoot skeet with the game disk I suppose.

Other than that I guess you could just kill everyone you come across.

Some guy did a complete playthrough without killing anything.
It's hard, that's for damn sure, but not impossible. :)

but how? a hell of alot of quests all require something to be killed. When in a combat situation what happens / what do you do when that deathclaw is running at you? or when you have to go into that delapedated hell spawn infested building to retrieve a certian item? doesnt make any sense to me.....

Yes I have a rooster, no I do not like it. XD

And no, all we get out here is satellite internet with a slower than smell download speed to match a 256 mb limit per day.

Sneak skill, stealthboy, knockout weapons and avoiding hostile territory or not doing a quest that requires one to kill them.
I think it's doable as well if your companion does all the killing.
