Thanks I'll take a look around there. Don't get me wrong. The DLC's great but these quests without markers can be kind of tedious.

Reminds me of the Morrowind and Bloodmoon quests, no quest marker and only a scrappy quest log but back in the days it was fun  .

All the online hints suggest looking on the Northeast coast...so I looked Northwest and bingo!

I prefer not knowing where everything is.

Edit: I figure I'll run across him sooner or later while out exploring.

I just waited until I randomly came across him... I knew I would eventually encounter him if I explored.

Tedious?
More like an actual rpg, like the good old days of Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights 2 :P

morrowind would eat you alive if you thought a handful of nonmarked quests in a small area with an easy-to-read map system was annoying
morrowind is the true definition of "where the [censored] am i?" gaming

Same here. I found him on the edge of an iceberg overlooking the Northwest Coast.

You haven't played Morrowind then.. It's much funner in Morrowind. But sometimes they did give you Directions. :P

maybe if you enjoy getting lost in the bitter cost for hours looking for a stupid cave for hours cause the journal said go north of a tree........ I hate trees( but maybe the fact that I live at the edge of a forest in the real world and have to have battles raking leaves then when I am done there is a new mount leaf moor there the next day then they mock me in games) o how I hate trees and their evil leaf spawn... Smokey the bear was wrong forest fires kill trees and their evil spawn so fire is just dishing out justice only to be hampered by the trees agents the bear and those pesky firemen.

Nuh-uh.. Morrowind was a legit pain in the ass at times. I like having to look for things but sometimes it was just too much. Thank goodness for UESP..

Torvild is his name, I think, and he's a random encounter.

Well the random encounter thing is a little irritating if I've done pretty much everything else on Solstheim and have no reason to hang around... Oh well. I doubt I'll be missing something too wonderful.

I have the same problem: got the quest, can't find the man (although I swear I saw someone during the Hircine quest that had almost he exact same name). But I'm not going to bother running around trying to find the guy anymore... Much more fun things to do... Like... Make it to max level to kill me a Legendary Dragon... With an enchanted Fork Of Horker Pilation and the Dragon BBQ Skewer

There is a random encounter spot west of Castle Karstag, on the coast north of the Riekling camp. I found him easily there but he glitched and got stuck running at me in place as he seemed to be caught where two pieces of the ice floor met. This also made him unkillable.

A few days later I went back and he was there again and was able kill him and take his note to his bro.

That's what made this DLC (and Lost to the Ages in DG) so fun!

This is definitely bugged. I've wandered around and triggered plenty of random encounters - 3 or so fights with groups of werebears, 2 encounters with a 'mad man', at least 4 battles between pyromancers and cryomancers and no goddamm Torkild guy!
