Well the DOOM movie was a piece of crap. Really. It was a fail, because Hollywood always ruins games.

If they make another DOOM movie, it BETTER BE about the game! No virus-infection crap! We want demons! And we don't want out Pinky's in wheelchairs, Pinky's have legs!

Anyway, IF they made a DOOM movie about the GAME's storyline, and demons, AND with IdSoftware to look over the project, then I'd gladly pay my money so see it. But I'd better NOT see 'The Rock' acting as the Doomguy. He's the worse person possible for the role... yuck.
-----------------

Anyway that's all just my opinion, I know some people enjoyed the movie and I don't mind, there were definetely a few aspects in the film I liked, but overall it was a waste of money, and a shame to the name Doom.

I still have not found any reason or explanation for dumping the whole demons & hell concept for the movie.

Neither have I. Originally it wasn't going to take place on Mars either which is another bizarre move although from my understanding they eventually changed this (I've never seen it myself).

Leaving hell out of the movie and not calling them demons is like somebody making a Quake movie and the Strogg come from South America and aren't aliens but deformed humans that live in some cave that has these chromosome mutating crystals. Oo

I'm afraid the next Doom filmed is gonna be rubbish.

Noooooooooo! Not another crappy video game movie! Run away!

Seriously though, is there really even enough plot in Doom to make a good movie? Well, there is the whole back story of the character, how he got sent to Mars and all that, in the read.me file.

But, if they do make one, they should stick to the original concept of the game. And they better not do that stupid trope of a ragtag bunch of misfits in the squad that we are supposed to care about so their deaths are more emotional when they get offed by the demons.

The potential is there, but they would have to have less action, more thought, and good pacing to really cultivate it. Otherwise they'll have another barely B grade action film.

doom the movie was a mess, they plan to get doom 2, but I think it will be a mess again, is that I do not trust video game movies! none has been good so far! none is in accordance with the game's history

Where was it going to take place alternatively?

Despite what players perceive none of DOOM is actually played out on Mars. It takes place on Phobos and Deimos, the moons of mars.
DOOM 3, however takes place on Mars..

Since we all know they made a DOOM 3 movie (character style, location) how would you feel if they made a DOOM 1/2 style movie?

Indeed.

I forget the original movie location. It was some alien planet I think. I personally think it could take place on another planet and work well.... or take place on the moon or some space station or whatever. As long as the demons are coming from hell...

They should try adapting the ORIGINAL Doom bible (the one that the games barely made use of due to technology and time constraints). If you read about the http://doom.wikia.com/wiki/Doom_Bible, the game was supposed to be MUCH more complex.

Read the Doom Bible here: http://5years.doomworld.com/doombible/

The film wasn't that great really. There was probably more gore in a single possessed marine's death in the game than there was in the entire film! It was a fifteen, and for good reason too! If the ESPA (the guys who rated games before BBFC) rated that film, they would've made it an 11+! Why? Because it had less gore than MediEvil 1 + 2, and that only has green blood!

But there's little chance that a DOOM film will be a good one. I find that the better the game, the worse the film (almost like Team Fortress 2 promotional items - PC/Mac only). For example:

Super Mario = great game, awful film
Tomb Raider = great game, not brilliant film
Far Cry = good game, haven't seen the game but heard it's awful.
DOOM = best horror game ever, worst horror film ever.

The thing I found the most insulting about the film was the first person sequence. Sure they tried, but it's like as if the directors hadn't even played the game! It looked so bad, and so inconvincing!

But that's just my opinion. ^_^

I'd love to see a good Doom film (never saw the first one).

However, if you make a film of Doom, you'll need to add more supporting characters, characterise them, and possibly kill one or two.

I think I am one of the only people here who actually liked the movie . . . yay me. Though yes, it was far from great. It was an acceptable sci-fi romp if you ask me, nothing more though. The concept of another and hopefully better movie kind of excites me. While movies based on games really never turn out all that good (aside from the splendidly bad Postal movie), they are always entertaining to watch. Heres to the movie defying expectations, as unlikely as that is.
