Doors making items fly?

Post » Sat Jul 07, 2012 7:58 pm

What is this?
Immediately after my FPS problem was fixed, stuff started to fly around everytime I open a door. It's weird to walk in Solitude and see Eg. tomatoes flying around the city and when I enter my house almost everything starts to fly around. This doesn't cause crashes what so ever but I hate places being so messy. Same with dead bodies.

Any ideas?

From what I have read and can gather, the physics engine is tied directly to your frame rate.

So at smooth 60fps everything should be fine, but if you are jumping from say 20-50fps I suppose it could mess up the calculations a little or something, whatever causes it.

Not sure how true that is but it's what I can gather from reading other peoples posts about this.

Please make sure you have V-Sync turned on.

It appears the opposite is also true. Too high a FPS probably causes too many physics calculations too fast or something, thus sending everything crazy.
Why anyone plays anything without V-Sync is beyond me though, why make your GPU render 400 frames a second if your monitor can only display 60fps, just extra unnecessary work for the GPU.

Best bet find another way to solve FPS issues etc other than disabling V sync.

Well I play without V-Sync because then I get less lag spikes. Since if your FPS is limited to 60 and something bigger happens it drops beneath 60 and that makes the game run less smoothly. I have played with [censored] computers my whole life and now that I got a little bit better than average comp. there is no way I'm going to limit it's power.

Skyrim assumes you have V-Sync enabled for how it functions. If you refuse to limit your FPS, then you cannot be helped.

Also, disabling V-Sync can cause other problems as well. Such as visual anomalies among other things. This varies, of course, based on one's monitor and other factors.

Think of it like a car, your car may be able to do 100MPH but the speed limit is 30MPH, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. By doing the full 100MPH you risk crashing your car more, you will wear the engine away faster, less miles to the gallon. And so on.

You aren't limiting it's power at all. You are simply saving your GPU from rendering hundreds of frames that are pure waste as they won't be displayed on a 60Hz screen, best bet is to find out all the information about your setup and configure it to your liking,

I fail to see how it's a bug when someone has to turn V-Sync off through the INI file...

In any case, your problem seems to be a completely different one. As for that problem, please thoroughly describe the issue and provide all relevant information including a full dxdiag in a spoiler tag.
