Dovahkiin: The Movie

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:45 am

I;m very skeptical of anything like this, but hey why not discuss it? How bad would you guys want in it, and what would you want it to be like? I think they should do real actors in a movie, similar to their launch trailer, and it would be pretty epic if it was anything like that trailer.

A TES movie would be pretty pointless. The series is isn't popular because of it's amazing story or themes, but rather it's open-ended gameplay and elements of immersion. Different mediums can do different things, there are trade-offs and quirks, and when you get down to it the strength of Skyrim and TES is in nurturing the potential of INTERACTIVE media. This strength does not translate to other media. Film has nothing really to offer TES or it's fanbase. I could see an in-universe film being interesting, although it would really need to stand by itself. And such a film that is able to find success by it's own merits would likely be unrecognizable as a part of the TES brand.

I love Skyrim, but I'm not interested in a movie.

I fthe Director of LOTR makes it, and its split in to at least 3 different movies, i could see it forming however for now lets just focus on the game.

I will pass on an Elder Scrolls movie how would the create an open world movie that can be endlessly explored, it would completely break away from the point of an ES game and I will pass on the notion.

Its a unique idea, but i prefer the game over a movie. Its like a book vs. a game.

My teacher tells me i should read more
I tell her readings boring
She tells me i just need to find a good book, and i can go on great adventures.
She points out the book "The Rangers Aprentice"
I read the books, good books.
The books make me want to play Skyrim, which is even more interesting as im not reading, but deciding my characters path.
Who needs a linear adventure in a book, when you have games like The Elder Scrolls. That includes movies too...

Not enough story to support a movie.

Well i guess so .. to those that don't play Skyrim. Or haven't played any of the Elder Scrolls, but to be honest it would be really hard to make a movie about it. How would they act it? .. Would the Dovahkiin be running and running and exploring? No. That would be boring. I would prefer the game over that.

No no no. The fun with TES games is making up a character and decide what adventures to go for. Watching a movie with some other Dovahkiin (who probably is nothing like the ones I make up) doing things in a way I shouldn't... Nope. Not working.

Since the Elder Scrolls are more about freedom of exploration and making your own path through the world I have a feeling the movie would be below average in terms of quality and have nothing except the lore to do with what the Elder Scrolls is about. Wouldn't watch that movie unless it got universial praise from both critics and fans of TES alike.

I don't think movie makers are ready for making video game movies just yet. They're just now starting to get super hero movies done right.

What if it was based off a guild, like the Companions? That's already pretty linear, and you could use just a travelling warrior or ex-merc instead of Dovahkiin. I think that might have the potential, but I also do agree it would be pretty off-base from the game.

A movie would kind of just destroy the point of a role-playing game where you can do whatever you want.
