Dragon armor drops? ...

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:27 pm

Am i the only person that finds this a bit ridiculous? I mean... Isnt dragon armor supposed to be special? Seriously... Dragons havent been around in ages... But somehow theres armor made from dragon scales just lying around? I found an enchanted daedric armor in a chest and kinda thought hmm.. That kinda svcks... But then thought, eh, at lease its not dragon armor...

Now, im at four skull lookout doing the last bit of the destruction ritual and lookie here... Dragonscale boots... Pbbb.. Is nothing sacred? I wouldve thought that atleast you have to make this armor... Its nowhere else in the world... No one has it... Its dovakiin's right to wear this armor and dovakiin alone... But... Nope...

Guess i can tell all those guards that made me feel proud when they oggled my dragon duds that they can go find this stuff in a random chest...

"is that... Is your armor made of dragon scales? Oh, what i wouldnt do for a set of armor like that..."

"try the chest behind you"

...lame

I suppose its theoretically possible its been sitting there for a few ages, since the last time anyone saw dragons.

Either that, or somebody is stalking you, looting the dragon corpses, forging the armor, and just hiding it for you to find. Right?

I might agree with you however, even deadric armor which is vastly more rarer than dragon armor can still drop from enemies. The art of deadric forging is supposedly not very well known so why does random treasure chest X have it?

Or even better, who the hell puts all these goodies in random treasure chests scattered across the world?

It's kinda a break in the game system for people who don't smith, because shops don't sell d?dric or dragon armor/weapons.

I like to believe it was the old nord inhabitants... And the random ones scattered around in the middle of nowhere were filled by nord wanderers.. However... Once i loot them the first time, after the respawn, the items were placed by bandits and theives looking to stash their goods...

Lol... Idk.. Kinda just bs'in...

I've only found one piece of dragon armor (no Daedric). It was Dragonscale helm with an underwater breathing enchant on it. Found it today in the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon - I'm level 53 FWIW.

I guess it's a little weird to find it, but if I can learn to make it why can't some NPCs?

Nice. Thats a great find.
And i guess youre right about the npc's smithing it too... Eh... I still think its a bit silly.. I guess the only thing i can do is try to believe its part of the last dragonborns armor. Scattered for me to find.

Ah, roleplay...

Well, I guess it could be possible for some reclusive d?dra worshipping master blacksmith to make some d?dric, but I can't really see anyone able to make dragon armor besides for the old hero nords who could actually kill dragons besides you.

Um, I don't belive it's completely impossible for someone else to kill a dragon.

It's not, when I used to have Lydia (traded her for the housecarl of Solitude) I had her solo a dragon and just watch. Didn't use any shouts or healing on her. But dragons cannot be permanently killed unless by a dragonborn, since they will just revive again. (Seeing how every single dragon in Skyrim besides for Alduin and Paarthurnax is undead)

Yeah, it seems that it would make more sense to find Dragon armor in the cyrpts with Draugrs since the loading screens suggest that the reason they walk the halls is because they may be being punished for worshipping dragons. Also, they may have some dragonborn-like skills since they also use shouts.

The NPCs did it for me today (took like an hour) because my Diplomatic Immunity quest bugged out
Spoiler
after I had given my gear to the plant

I got a dragonplate shield drop, but it was in the Sky Haven Temple which is very appropriate. I assume there could be other pieces left over from the days of the dragon hunters.

The Atronach Forge lets you summon daedric power into standard ebony armour. Conjuration provides skills that allow you to temporarily bind daedric weapons to yourself. So you don't need to be a blacksmith to get daedric armour, since the lore states rituals that can be performed to permanently bind daedric pieces on Mundus. Plus the fact that some dremora may wander the world, and may have been 'killed' but their armour taken.

No comment on dragon armour, but regardless, none of this crap should be in a tomb that's never been entered for thousands of years. And it's also strange how these chests bear the same locks as modern Tamrielic locks. Also how the fires inside the tombs have been burning since... forever.

The real mystery is what are these Steel Imperial Gauntlets doing in the main chamber of an crypt from before the first age?

Maybe Sanguine?

Or Molag Bal... since he says he's watching you when you kill things.

I know dragons can be killed without my character even being present. She was walking down the road minding her own business, nothing in site, not even a companion or dog with her, and suddenly there's a whoosh! and she's told she just absorbed a dragon soul. Never did figure out who killed it or where.

that should be rather rare as soul absorption will happen even if your miles away from the dead dragon. realisticly, you should be getting random free souls several times per playthrough from stupid dragons that try to take down a major city.
