Dragons, although fictive animals, can be put into the Reptilia class of the Animal kingdom.

Given that, we can spot a few scientific errors, or at least unlikely features.

I stopped right there because you said they were fiction and then said there reptilian.

and then said there are scientific errors. that is science-fiction errors? well OK but I think its not science or even science fiction but fantasy. For either of the two latter cases the explanation would be in the mythos & lore of the series, not from microbiology.

There's your critical flaw, and not even halfway through the first paragraph. Dragons breath fire. Fire. They create their own heat inside themselves. And then there's frost dragons. Dragons that breathe ice obviously aren't cold-blooded.
Hmm, I see the fire breathing abilities are that of the language of the voice, rather than a part of their anatomy. The dragonborn can 'shout' fire, similar to the dragons.

It's also hard to discuss this as most of their behaviour, e.g. ability to fly so effortlessly with such huge weight, is explained by magic, which we can't explain/compare to earth ha.

How does anyone here know the biomechanics of a dragon?

Traits needed for a Dragon to live can found in animals that currently living on Earth.

It’s my understanding that Skyrim’s dragons use words rather than their bellies for fire, frost, and the like.

I’m disappointed. I thought we were going to discuss why they always seem to be carrying around a suit of armor that they just couldn’t pass. :P

It's just a game, I'm sure they didn't think about stuff like that. Besides, this is Nirn, not Earth.

Thinking about it now.... How did practically every single civilization in the world, that had no connections to one another at all, depict almost identical creatures? :bonk:
Almost identical? http://www.crystalinks.com/dragon.gif, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e3/Japanese_dragon,_Chinese_school,_19th_Century.jpg/220px-Japanese_dragon,_Chinese_school,_19th_Century.jpg and http://www.tattoosymbol.com/images/symbols/quetzalcoatl-big.jpg dragons are quite distinct from each other but can all be quite easily be traced to the thought "Snakes are kind of scary, what if they had wings? That'd be damn scary".

As for the biomechanics of dragons: THEY'RE SEMI-IMMORTAL DEMIGODS THAT WARP REALITY BY SPEAKING!!! Any semblance to earthly organisms is purely superficial.

Well here, don't think I'm bashing the game. It was just a funny science experiment of thought.

I know dragons aren't real, but if they were to be, I just thought about how they could be. And that's one of many scenarios. They could as well be hot-blooded instead of cold-blooded, and nocturnal instead of diurnal, and breathe fire with an intricate mix of gases instead of magic, but they'll remain fictive. That's just a thought experiment.

By the way, I love Skyrim, guys.

Maybe... the fire doesn't come from within the dragon..? I mean after all, all the fire is from the power of the shout. No one ever said they "breathed" fire in the traditional sense.

well when one of them crawled out of his grave and then his flesh was made anew in front of my eyes I sorta thought that dragons pwned all logic and science, not to mention they can create storms by shouting and talk and breath fire/frost...etc

we can spot a few scientific errors

Trying to apply scientific reasoning to a fictitious video game world that employs a heavy dose of magick throughout is not really all that smart, now is it?

That's why I said that it was only a funny thought experiment, not an actual bash on the game, bro.
