Dragon not attacking me..

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:01 am

Hi everyone, here's a funny bug i had yesterday and to day..

Well when this hapend yesterday, i was derping near the riften, doing misc quest and stuff..

And to day, i was on my way to kill a giant somewhere in middle of the map..

So what hapened is, in both case i saw a dragon, but it didnt attacked me, i tried to hit him, and after 5-10 min i succeded to hit him, but he didnt attacked me again.. After almost 30 of derping, for each, i succesfuly made them land, and kill..

Soo, do i missing something? i hope this wont turn in to a real bug, because it might be a coincidence but these two cases was straight, and havent encountered any other dragon to see if this is perminent.

So i ask, what you think, is it a real bug, what can be done to avoid, or is there a specific condition that must be hapen in order to make the dragon attack me. Well i havent started the main quest yet but, arent they suppose to hate me or so :P?

What is derping?

Internet slang... look it up

But yeah, it's a bug. A very annoying one at that.

I have come across a couple dragons that will stay in the air and even though I manage to knock 3/4 of their health away while in flight they still fly away instead of attacking me.But I took it as a self-preservation tactic cause I have come across a dragon or two who already had 8-10 arrows in em before I killed em so I assumed they were the ones who took off instead of facing me.

Don't worry, hostile dragons are more numerous than non hostile ones. Maybe the non hostile are dragons that have already eaten one or two mammoths before passing you by. ;)

What's really annoying about attacking a Dragon that won't fight back?
Just reap in the rewards and be glad you're not wasting potions on healing and buffing up.

A few of the dragons are non hostile. I have gotten a couple of them to come down and play by just running down the road. Perhaps they are like a cat and need to see something running to get interested.

However, if they are not attacking you, then just go on about your business. Plus, if you can wait or rest while the dragon is in the cell, it is probably not going to attack you (except maybe if you run so it notices you).

Also, I had one of these dragons that was not attacking but it was flying near me, so I ran off towards a fort full of Imperials. It noticed the Fort then I could take care of it.

I just like to pretend that the non hostile dragons are either: Scouting, there to harass the hell out of you, or simply too scared to pick a fight with the ultimate dragon slayer..

Once I was walking on pretty high ground, when suddenly a dragon flew very close over my head. It wasn't hostile either, and very cool. ^^ Plus, it suits me fine with the character I'm role-playing right now. She leaves them alone as well, as long as they don't start attacking her. (Heck, she even does invisible to get the shouts at their lairs without disturbing them  )

I like the non-hostile dragons. It adds some variety to the race (and doesn't render them into suicidal super aggressive beasts like the cliff racers from Morrowind). Besides, I love it when they come circling above you head, roaring a bit, and then fly off again to vanish behind the horizon. Gives the feeling they're mistaking you for another dragon and greeting you. :P

That was one sad dragon!!! :ermm: Maybe he lost all his coin at the track and couldn't go home to face his dragon wife so he just sat down and waited for someone to end his missory

I've also encountered those few non-hostile dragons, 3 time so far! one landed and attacked the whiterun guards while completely ignoring me beside it :D

Maybe they know that the dragonborn is hazardous to their health haha

Theres a big WARNING label on the dragonborn's forehead like on packs of smokes!! It reads " Warning dragonborn encounters my be hazardous to your health, may result in decapitation or loss of life and limb" in the dragon tongue of course

This is common enough if the dragon is in combat with other, I did not take any damage in the last boss fight as Alduin was fighting the other heroes while I stood back and shoot at him.

Some other has gotten the souls of dragons who was killed by giants or forsworn.

Yep, I did that a while back. Dragon took on giant, giant killed him. I'd been off at a safe distance watching, and had never been hostiled by either of them during the event, and when I walked up to the dragon, i got its soul. Welfare souls!

when they are flying away (non hostile) sometimes lightning (because it is easy to hit them with lightning) will make them pay attention.

Shooting an arrow or the slow spells hardly has a chance to hit, but lightnings speed has a high chance to intercept them and get them to start the fight.

hokern wrong with a freebie!!! You just got to save 10-15 arrows or 5-6 health potions, and you didn't need to break into a sweat.

Arrows, yes. Potions, no. I don't believe in 'em. When a dragon lifts off, I swap to double-heal spell, quickly top off, then back to the bow for the next ground round. Cake.
