added the perk now it says

bring a dragon bone/scale to est

i typed

SetObjectiveCompleted FreeFormSkyHavenTempleD 10 1

as it said here

but it dose not accept the command , any ideas ?

Wouldn't it have been faster to just take a piece of dragon to the old man at the temple?

i did take the stuff he took them and gave me the potion i drank it and nothing happened
i went to console it said to add the perk then finish the quest typing that command

SetObjectiveCompleted FreeFormSkyHavenTempleD 10 1

adding the perk worked but finishing the quest did not work

i wounder why those where not fixed in all later patches is this patch safe ?

That quest had a bug introduced to it around patch 1.3 that completely broke it.

The unofficial patch fixes this (supposedly; I cannot personally confirm (yet))

or am just typing it wrong ? and i looked up the patch i dont think i want to use it i have latest patches
what is the effect or the result of not finishing this quest please ? thanks

Last 2 playthroughs, I followed the UESP's guidelines for circumventing the fix: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dragon_Research (and they work)

i see what you mean , but i had allready gave him the bones and u had an older save where i replayed the quest but
this time for my surprise he did not give me the quest at all . i have no idea why .

what will happen if i dont complete this quest ?

He won't buy Dragon parts from you is about the only downside. You might not be able to join the Blades after the MQ, but nobody wants to do that anyway.
