Dragonbone NOT greater than daedric?

Post » Sat Jun 30, 2012 7:01 pm

Hey guys,

Im not sure where I read this, possibly on a loading screen, that dragonbone weapons are supposed to be deadlier than Daedric. Now the fact that bone compared to demoinally possed metal shouldnt even be in the same league aside, I went to craft me dragon bone sword. Now the base damage values of dragon weapons indeed seem higher. However, when I go to the grindwheel to upgrade them, the daedric sword legendary has more damage? I tried getting rid of all factors that could affect this, notched pickaxe, potions ect. In the end I went to the forge in Windhelm stark-naked with just some ebony, leather and dragonbones and still. Is this correct? I have 100 smithing and all the heavy armour perks ( inc dragon obviously) maxed.

Smas

Maybe Bethesda wasn't expecting people to blacksmith the crap out of their daedric weapons, so they only made the Dragonbone base damage better? I am not sure if that even make sense. It's probably a problem on your part, OP.

^This
DRAGON bone, baka.
Its magic.
More powerful than your silly deadra.
Need I remind you BOTH deadra and aedra are sometimes depicted as dragons because dragons are a supreme race superior to anything from Oblviion? Need I remind you who, or rather what Akatosh is??
The dragons are practically gods. Your demonically possessed metal probably came off some churl or at best a deadric lord.

However I have to agree with you that dragon seems weaker. I've never explored the heavy side of the smithing perk tree, so I don't know from personal experience, but isn't deadric fully upgraded supposed to do insane damage? Like upwards of 200?
My dragonbone stuff only does like...75 (legendary).

My Dragon Blade has 230 damage (Legendary) without any enchantments and is my most powerful weapon. Before that one my Forsworn Sword had 208 damage (Legendary) not including enchanments I had on it.

Simple answer probably,

My guess is that you do have the deadric smithing perk, and do not have the dragon smithing perk.

You can improve deadric 2x or something, which causes the deadric equiment to be better after grinding.

For example, i have the steel smithing perk, and a superior steel sword does more damage than a fine orcish sword, because i can only improve it to fine..

Well he wouldent be able to craft a dragon sword without the dragon smithing perk would he?

Are you comparing a dragonbone weapon at the stone to a daedric weapon you had already upgraded with your gear on?

Im assuming he did the same for deadric and dragon.

At firsts with my gear, but then I took everything off including notched axe, so I removed all variables.

I smithed a set of Dragonbone weaponry and improved it. With potions and rings, necklaces, gauntlets, I was able to improve it to 2 hit-points better than my Daedric. My bow now does 135 hit points and have enchantments on it that make it a WMD! Yes, it also weighs more, but the damage it does outweighs the weight. IMHO!
