Dragons snatching up Giants - does it happen at all?

Post » Thu Jul 19, 2012 1:35 am

Dear forum-dwellers,

I've invested a few hundrer hours into Skyrim and I'm embarrased to admit I'v yet to see a dragon snatching up a giant (or anything else, for that matter), as shown in the gameplay trailer that was posted on YouTube before the game was released.

What gives?

Also: Have recent patches cut down on dragon attacks in populated areas/cities? When the game was fresh, it seemed that more crazy dragon [censored] would occur than now. I can imagine worries about dragons killing of certain NPCS being the reasoning behind this, but then again I'm not even sure if its' the case at all.

Does anyone know? I certainly miss the carnage of fighting dragons in towns and cities,

Best regards,

Kjetil

I think they realized that if a dragon tries to snatch the giant it will probably dislocate its toes or something... or take an awesome face-plant  . As for the dragon attacks, i think most of them happen while your busy with an important quest and you cant fast travel cuz then they dont care where you are..

I have never had that happen. I never get the Dragons sliding across the ground when they die, it has happened twice. The problem is that they always land.

330 hours or so spent playing, and I've still yet to see a dragon snatch (ahem).

Never seen one pick up a giant, but I've been picked up and dropped by a dragon while I was fighting 2 at once. I had full health when it happened and it completely caught be by surprise, but for some reason a couldn't stop smiling as I watched my Breton fall to his death.

I'm confused, does it never happen or has it only happened a couple times?

It happens when they have very little health left. They will land normally when their health is low, but when it's very low they crash land.

The only time a dragon has snatched something was when shadowmare [mere?] was low on health after i got off it and a dragon flew overhead and took him/her :1 but this was after the first patch i haven't had anything like it happen again.

I've seen a definitely pick up a farmer and toss her to her death. But it has only happened once.

Since post patch 1.05, I have only had dragons attack in the town of Dawnstar, The college of Winterhold, and by the stables in Solitude.

Pre patch 1.05, Dragons totally wrecked Falkreath. Killed half the town, including essential quest givers in order to "help" the people. The husband and wife that own the farm? Dead. The Blacksmith? Dead. The caretaker of the Hall of the Dead? Dead.

That town is a declared disaster area.

My current toon has only about 20 hours of gameplay so far, and I have had dragons show up to terrorize Riften, Solitude, and Morthal. (The one at Morthal killed my horse... R.I.P.).

As for giants being picked up by dragons, I have not seen this. But I don't want dragons killing all my giants. The giants are the amusing part of my games. Find a group of bandits, kite them to a giant, and watch the giant put the bandits into high orbit one by one with his anti-gravity-glitch-hammer. I even play a game where I try to guess where, when, and IF they will ever land...

I think your referring to the "bait and hook" tactic.

I think I saw a Dragon pick something up, but I forgot it was around when I first got the game long ago.
