Druids? Are they possible?

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 2:04 am

So far I haven't ever seen a way to make a druid style class. Is it even possible?

Probably not, unless there is a Command Creature spell that lasts indefinitely like Dead/Atronach thrall. I don't know if that's what you're looking for...

Druids are a type of class that can turn into animals, like a bear or cat. Also able to control wild animals.

Probably that and being able to shift into several different types of animals not like werewolf but like an actual animal but with the inteilegience of a sentient race the player chooses. Something simalar to D&D using a vast range of spells mostly in the form of nature spells like making forests out of nothing but inhospitable land using water and being able to enchant decanters of endless water etc...

Well if you are looking for a WOW type druid a destruction mage with werewolf is about as close as you can get that I can think of. The conjurer seems more like the Warlock.

The wood elf has the once a day power to control animals. It works on mammoths and I believe the animal allegiance shout does not. It is pretty funny having 3 mammoths fighting giants for you.

Not in the fashion that I envision a Druid, no.

Unless you're a Wood Elf, there's no creature command, and that's only once a day, and since most dungeons are humanoid or undead infested, there's not much use for it.

The only shapeshifting comes from the Companions, which probably isn't a fitting guild for a Druid (unless you're more of a Ranger type).

It svcks cuz I was wanting to make a character with Druid characteristics, but it's one build that just doesn't really work in Skyrim.

Bosmer would make the best Druid type.

Closest thing to turning into an animal would be werewolf. Perk illusion tree so it works with higher level animals. Kyne's Peace and Animal Allegience are animal based shouts. Wood elves have command animal as a starting power.

Far as elemental magic goes, conjuring antrochs and destruction is elemental based.

If you are planning on truely roleplaying a wood elf though, might want to look into the Green Pact and Namira quest......

Course when I first saw the forsworn, I thought druid....

Druids have never had a place in the TES lore. A mod is requires to make this playstyle.

Or in oblivion :( but I'm writing a fanfic for that particular class and what not for my skyrim fanfic. It has 1 chapter so far.

The class itself and powers and what not can easily be described by worship of Kynerreth the goddess of Nature and life.

That would have been awesome to have them added into the game where they were playable.

Yes, although the reduction of magical effects and spell creation diminishes it. For transmogrification, you summon+Invisibility. Druids are also naturally adept at fire magic. Druids in ES are Hircine Bosmer witch types.

-Make a Bosmer (For racial ability)

-Unlock all three Words of Animal Allegiance and Kyne's Peace

-Wear hide armours exclusively (perhaps the Saviour's Hide is best for this)

-Stick with archery as it feels more hunstman-esque

-Unlock Beast Form and use that

-Do the quest "Kyne's Sacred Trials" in order to unlock an amulet that increases bow damage by 5% and decreases damage done to you by animals by 10%

-Use the spell Summon Familiar a lot

I'm actually working on an Orc shaman build. Light armor (hide), 2h weapons, destruction, restoration, alteration, conjuration. Beast form.

An Orc Shaman is actually very plausible. You could use light or heavy armor, I'd go with Heavy honestly for the Orc armor, it's very shamanistic, but use the following skills:

Light (or heavy) Armor
1h (mace)
Destruction (lightning)
Restoration
Alchemy
Enchanting

VERY plausible build. You could simply run around with a mace in one hand and a lightning spell in the other (I think of Shamans as using "nature" spells, and Lightning is the closest thing to that to me personally) and it'd be very fun.

Yeah a Wood Elf in some version of Fur/Hide/Forsworn.

Kynes Peace and the other animal shout.

Destruction/Restoration/Alchemy (Possibly illusion for Calm, and Animage).
The weapons a bit tough, Forsworn staffs would probably look the best, but're tricky to come by.

As to Orc shamans, I actually rate Orc as a top 3 race for mage characters. Early enchanting boost, some weapon skills for when things go bad, and Berserker rage is a tremendous defensive power, even though its offense doesn't apply to spells.

How about just take various nature and animal powers within the game, and simply call it a Druid? No reason to not go for it just because some other fantasy setting centers them around shapeshifting. I mean, no one really has a definitive idea of what a druid even is.
