Dummy Items Issue.

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:10 am

When i put some Dummy Items in my Dungeon, e.g in a Table, all works fine, but then when i enter the Dungeon in-game to test it, the Table is "empty" there's not even one of the Dummy Items i put there.. The items i put was a Dummy Sword and some Dummy Potions.

EDIT: Also, sometime in the CK i received a WARNING message involving Dummy, and i clicked yes.. i think probably this is the problem, but the question is, how to fix it ?

Are you making sure to Edit the Dummy object and connect it to a Leveled Item Base Object in the Leveled Item tab? Because if you don't, a dummy object won't do anything.

I am having a similar issue. Dummy objects I have placed in the past appear fine (potions armor etc) but items I have placed since are not showing up but then, I have come back after going to a few other areas and then the newer dummy objects are then are then appearing (but this is not consistent). I have even tried editing dummy objects I have place previously and they are not updating...

Any tips?
if it's havocable objects only that are concerned, you might want to try to put them a bit higher above your table in ck. if havoc-objects are to close to collision planes, they sometimes fall through to the next one (if any).
also, check if there's any roombounds in your cell, and if, make sure they're properly aligned and all

Are you using a dirty save game?

You should use a save game that has NEVER had your mod activated. Otherwise your mod can be unpredictable in how it behaves.

I'm having the same exact issue. I even checked the wiki and did exactly what it said to make sure I was doing it right, yet no dummy items show up when ingame.

I tried this suggestion and it seems to have worked, all dummy objects are showing up when I start with a clean save

The initial problem still exists which to recap is...while while on my "dirty save" all the original dummy objects I placed show up fine...but the ones I placed later still do not.

The solution of a clean save is somewhat helpful but well..I dont want to have to restart the game to play with the modifications I have made....any ideas as to why the earlier placed dummy objects show up fine and the more recent ones do not unless the savegame is "new"?

Thanks for your help so far.

In re to my last post...I tried creating dummy objects in a new esp file and they are not showing up as well now so it appears to not be related to any specific esp file.

Okay I have found a workaround.

1.Load the game as normal
2. Coc to a location in the game straight from the menu (this seems to put you into the world as a defauly lvl 1 character). Your dummy items should now show up.
3.Load a savegame that you had been using previously (I loaded my last save from the location where the objects were NOT appearing).
4.The dummy items should be were you have placed them.

Please let me know if this worked for you as well.

UPDATE:

hmmm, I have tried this again and it appears that it is not consistent...any other solutions would be appreciated.

You might have to wait for the game to "reset" the cell.

The way i understand it, when you first enter a cell, the game gets what level you are and then spawns all levelled items/NPC's/etc accordingly. This is then set in stone until the game resets the cell (30 game days I think).

Have I got this right:
you made your interior, visited in game, saved, added more dummy items, then went back in game and noticed the problem?

If that is the case then the difference between your "dirty" and "clean" saves makes sence. The game has already done its "load levelled items" phase and won't reload any new levelled items until it is time to reset it. Where as with your "clean" save, the game is loading all the items because it is the first time the character is visiting the cell

I'm not an expert, but this seems to explain what is happening to you. If there is an experienced modder reading this, by all means please correct me if I'm wrong

I will test this out now by waiting 30 days in game...this will be fun.

Thanks for the input :)

Hmmm this would and does explain some odd behavior but I have had no luck with your suggestion. I have also placed dummy items in other cells and well...these are not appearing at all...

Any thoughts?

Geez....

setgs iHoursToRespawnCell 8
setgs iHoursToRespawnCellCleared 8

Wait 9 hours instead of 721.

Edit: This is so useful for testing I made a file called "respawn" (no extension) in the Skyrim folder. Then I just do bat respawn in the console. Of course you don't want to do this on your "real" session...

I'm loading the Cell with COC at the start menu, so with a default lvl 1 character.. and still not luck..

I tried placing the objects a little above the collision border (in my case an altar) but still no luck..

Help ?
