Duplicate Meshes causing red diamonds

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:19 pm

I've just extracted a load of meshes from my Fallout 3 directory to my F:NV directory, and now several normal objects such as vDoor01 and OperatingLight01 have turned into red diamonds /!\, though their meshes are available from the F:NV bsa AND normal directories. Any known fixes?

Not only is it borderline illegal to take anything from Fallout 3 to New Vegas (NV Already has a majority of Fallout 3's things anyways) you don't really need to. My best guess is that because it is from Fallout 3, and chances are, no offense, your prolly a bit new to it, your getting wild inconsistencies. Honestly, if your looking for something specific for your mod, look over NV's objects and contents first, even if its not used in NV, doesn't mean its not there, and if its actually not, work on making some custom content.

No it's not :). I legally own both F:NV and FO:3, and I'm free to copy over any meshes for myself... So please, don't just assume I don't know what I'm doing. Speaking of that, I've solved it anyway.

Anybody else who read this, thanks for reading, problem solved.

It's like copying over things from Oblivion, just cause you own it doesn't mean you can, not for a mod, not unless you change the file significantly. Same goes for F3, me and quite a few people here have had lengthy discussion about it, its Why NV has a majority of thing's, your not supposed to just rip it and use it for your game unless you significantly change the file. I also wasn't trying to say you didn't know what you were doing, because I'm fairly competent with GECK now, and even I don't know everything, so sorry that came out wrong.

Ah. It really felt like you were flaming but luckily you were not :). My apologies as well.

And meh, I'm not distributing the mod or anything, and I've never seen Bethesda claiming we can't use meshes for ourselves so I'll keep doing it. Thanks for the advice though.

Honestly though, they don't have to say anything, its actually a basic copy right rule, even if its the same company, its a different game, and even then Obisidan / Black Isle made NV, not Bethesda, they do how ever do patches and possibly DLC.

Just want to let you know so.. well you know. These forums are NOT about flaming someone, purely about passing around information and helping people learn.
