Dwarven Sphere Follower with Custom Voice

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 2:21 pm

For the last two weeks I've been trying to create a dwarven sphere follower that has his own custom voice. I just can't get him to follow me, though. I'm pretty new at this, so I'm afraid it's some boneheadedly simple thing I'm missing.. but I'm way past beyond caring if I'm embarrassed

I think the core issue here is the voice type. I don't want to use a default voice, I want him to have an original voice. So how do I make an NPC with an original voice a following companion? He'll say "Right behind ya, boss!" I'll hear the sound and everything but he won't follow. He just sits there, steaming

I swear to God if anyone helps me with this I will credit them when the actual mod is finished

you need to either modify the existing follower dialogue quest or create a new one just for your voice type

I see.. so far I've been using a newly created quest, is the issue that it has to be in the "follower" quest specifically? The quest I made is set for the right race and voice type already. I just can't seem to make a dialogue option that will make him start following

you can "borrow" the SetFollower function from the vanilla script by declaring it as a property and calling the function.

Take a look at http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1349193-wip-an-unexpected-companion/, it details an approach to take. Basically you need your "follow me" dialogue to start a second quest, that sets your NPC as a reference alias and applies a follow AI package to that alias.
