Dwemer DLC

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 4:11 am

Anyone else here who would like to finally know what the **** happened to dwarves and why they disappeared?
I think this subject would be great DLC material.

I honestly hope they NEVER give a straight answer regarding their disappearance. It's part of their mystique and what makes them so intriguing.

Yeah. I really like that not every little thing about the world is explained. Gotta have some mystery.

Having some sort of return of the dwemer would be pretty epic, since i learnt of the plight of the falmer, I have suddenly realised that they are far from good guys, and would probably makea great antagonist.

That's anothering think I hope we never see. I hope we never see their return. I hope we never see them in the past.

What I do hope and want is for them to always remain a lost civilization from the past, full mystery. They add depth and interest to the world and the lore. The moment they return or we see them in the past, that will be lost. And they will never live up to what people have imagined them to be.

Oh god.. :ermm: I already have nightmares of their 'rolling blades' traps
If not fully explained, it would be cool to be given some kind of answers and possibly leaving player options what might have happened.
Some kind of ultimate dwemer ruin leading to almost core of earth would be nice

I wouldn't really want to see them reapear but I think a archeologist guild dedicated to searching all their ruins to find out as much about them as we can would be cool.

As has been said, the mystery surrounding the Dwemer is exactly why they're so interesting. I wouldn't want to see them return.

They can still be the antagonists though. They have ancient machines which still function. It wouldn't be too much to imagine for a mining expedition or archaological dig to accidentally awaken some great machine which threatens the world and needs to be stopped - enter, our hero.

Or you could do a little lore digging, read any number of the threads that pop up on this, and find out what happened to them.
Its not like we werent told after Morrowind.

No thanks. Would prefer a more Thalmor-centered DLC. Already know all I need to know about the Dwemer.

I don't think it should be advertised as something like "return of the dwarves" or whatever you want to call them. Basically, just throw the ruins into the game somewhere. Don't tell anyone it's there. Don't put up trailers about it. Just put it in the game and let people find it. That's how you explain it because it's always more "epic" when someone stumbles on something that's really cool instead of telling them it's there and they go in knowing what to expect.

I do not however believe that they need to remain a mystery forever though. Should we see them in Skyrim? Maybe. Maybe not. But the best part of a mystery is trying to figure it out. If the mystery is impossible to solve then it's no longer a mystery. It's just a hole in the lore. But yes if they do return in Skyrim or a dlc it needs to be completely random. Don't advertise it.

This is so true. The mystery is so important and adds such mystique and depth to the world. Once you see behind the curtain it just won't be as cool.

yes, something on the dwarves- or even dwarves themselves would be good. They have a underground compound never discovered...

I don't know as I care that much anymore. I"m sure whatever action adventure DLC they release will be just fine.

How about instead of the dwemer themselves we get dwemer associated things in expansion. Think about the expansion Bethesda is making. We know they are going to add new areas or probably land mass like SI. What would make most sense for Skyrim? Either another plane of Oblivion to explore or maybe something around skyrim like Solstheim or the western border of Morrowind. Like maybe there is a massive city like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ruins_of_Kemel-Ze on the western side?

Also about a new plane of Oblivion to explore, I personally think Moonshadow would be a good choice. I would love to see winged twilights again, and also this game needs more daedra to fight. Azura is one of the few Daedric princes who wouldn't kill or enslave you for no reason also... Unlike Coldharbour.

Id at least like to be able to craft some dwemer steam powered robot things with all the scrap I have, and use it as a companion.
Ive got plenty of soul gems to power it. Got plenty of scrap to keep it in good shape, I just need a DLC that leads me to a crafting table of sorts and sends me deep in a ruin to find a book of schematics on the various types of robots I could make. Maybe add some missions to find a few rare items that are needed to make them work properly. With that they could reveal tidbits of new lore on the Dwemer that will keep its mysterious nature but give us nerds a few new bits of info to chew on.

They tried to wipe themselves from their timeline and head back to start of all, using the heart of a god to achieve this. Whether they succeeded or failed is up to debate, but we know what happened next: they became the golden skin of Numidium.
Here, now you don't have to pay for a DLC. No need to thank me.

I can just picture it ...

Scene 1: Dwemer gates are opening up all over Tamriel! The Dwemer are returning from wherever and they are going to conquer the world!

Scene 2: A huge Dwemer siege engine is coming out of the Dwemer gate near Whiterun. You must enter the gate, steal the Dwemerstone and close the portal before it is too late!

Final Scene: Dwemer portals have opened up inside Solitude and a giant Dwemer NPC is rampaging about the town. The Dragonborn must turn into a dragon and destroy it.

Nonono, it's a giant centurion!

No, wait, it's Numidium. Truly epic, ain't it?
