Early Release and Pre-Orders : Othor Games

I'm just wondering if the "early release" is fact and not just a rumor? (seems its more fact than rumor, yet I haven't found a great source).

AND if RAGE was released early in stores, does this mean the pre-orders got shipped early as well?

The US release date is Oct 4 and EU release date is Oct 7. Not sure about Asia and Latin America. Some buyers may have received pre-order shipments early or from certain retailers, but most in the US should not receive their copies until Oct 4.

The Steam version was available for download starting last Friday and it will unlock at 12 midnight EST on Oct 4 (in the EU it should unlock on Oct 7).

Unfortunately for me I wasn't one of the lucky people who received an early copy lol.
