Eating Alchemical Reagents

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 6:51 am

By eating, pardon, sampling alchemical ingredients, we open their alchemical properties. I am aware that their properties can be discovered by experimenting at a lab (or checking internet databases, for that matter), but eating, pardon, sampling is the easiest way to discover at least the first property for starters.

This not to complain or anything, just picturing your canon Epic Nord Warrior Hero Dragonborn putting in his mouth every piece of crap he picks off the ground (giant's toe, anyone?) like a toddler is so hilarious, I just couldn't help sharing the laugh :)

I kinda wonder what a giants toe tastes like. Wonder if it's similar to camel toe.

isn't that the stuff they make tires out of?

anyway, looting my first giant's toe was a mixed experience. I genuinely felt disgusted that I'd have to eat it, moreso than any of the other ingredients

I'm not going to comment on the Camel Toe.... If ladies would care to I won't stop you.

As far as the most disgusting on that list... Hagraven anything.... Have you looked at those things...gross.

I always thought it must look so peculiar to see the Dragonborn just gnawing on elk antlers or swallowing Fire Salts despite their throat bursting into flame.

It took me a while to get Deimos to eat Human Flesh as an alchemical ingredient. I kept telling myself, "It's for alchemy, it's for alchemy"

Yes, human hearts, human flesh, antlers, bones, giants toes, etc. I don't want to imagine what these items taste like, and I'm impressed that the Dragonborn can keep it all down.

I wonder how eating items tells a person of its alchemical properties. If it's an effective poison, it could end up killing them.

I think the most ironic alchemical ingredient to taste test is Nightshade. I find that almost find it hilarious.

In old style RPGs the computer would insult you if you tried to eat these things.

Once you have all the perks in alchemy, nothing beats eating the ingredients to reveal the recipe though.

LOL, that's true! And sometimes it would finally let you do it after being persistent about it, and then you'd die. ^^ Followed by a witty [censored] comment from the game, haha.

I've always been ... intrigued ... on how your character in the Elder Scrolls games dare to test-taste everything lying around to discover its properties. I still remember being afraid my very first alchemist character would suddenly die from eating the wrong ingredient. When I finally discovered something with the Damage Health property, I was half relieved half disappointed when I noticed how little effect it really had.
