Ebony Boots of Muffling in Secret Chest of Markarth

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:30 am

I was looking so much for this enchantment and I know that many of you are also waiting to find it.

So today after reading the post about the new invisible chest in Markarth I went to have a look, found it behind the wall and inside, here they were, expecting for me: The Ebony Boots of Muffling.

Of course, I quickly went to disenchant them.

So now I'm posting it for you, hoping that they are still there.

Please let me know if you found them.

Sounds like random loot if anything.

From what I hear it's just another vendor chest for the Khajit caravan (waiting for confirmation on this...I have yet to even go check out the new chest myself), but if that bears true, it's as random as nearly every other chest in the game.

It's probably a random chest.

You are right. It's kind of random loot.

I have reloaded and checked in the merchant inventory. No boots with muffle enchantment. Then I returned to the chest: Here they are haha... I was really lucky today.

If these are the chests that the Khajiit merchants keep their wares in, then I'd think it safer to assume that just like any other merchant, that the loot is randomized and changes every day or two (or on subsequent visits to what ever cell it happens to be in at the time...).

No Merchants will ever carry all the same stuff all of the time, so I think it just depends on when you visit, and at what level you currently are at, then the game randomizes the loot accordingly.

I personally wouldn't expect the Ebony Boots of Uber-muffle +5 to be there for everyone.

I'm at Level 75 but it's not + 5. It says "Wearer is muffled and moves silently.". Ebony Boots of Muffling, armor 27, weight 7, valor 380. Now I can put the enchantment on my Dragonscale boots together with Resist fire.

I refuse to use these hidden chests. It's just cheating, in my opinion.

I picked up some Dwarven Boots of Muffling at that cave were the Blackblood Marauders are hiding out. I havent found any stronger boots yet, so I'll keep using them.

So do you not take the loot out of any chest? Because if it's there and not tagged as stealing, I'll take it. Hidden chests are part of the game so I can't see why you think it's cheating.

It's random loot but those chests are your best bet since they stock realy good loot. Also BretonSpy it is cheating because these are the khajiit caravan chests and were supposed to be further underground, but I still use them since I'll take anything that isn't nailed down.

Then it's stealing not cheating. How do you cheat in a single person game? I find hidden chest all over the place while exploring, not buried, but not always easy to get to so they are put into the game to be found. I don’t see that as cheating. Now if you’re telling me that the game AI stores items to use later then…

Yeah. I run almost exclusively Assassin & Thief characters, so a little bit of larceny isn't outside of my lack of morals.

Besides, it doesn't even count the items as "stolen", so you can sell them to any merchant that you come across.

;)

For a low level character, it's almost a necessary loot & sell if you want to have the cash to actually do things in the game. lol

No Muffled Boots for me... found some Orchish Boots of Sneaking, but that's about as close as I have got to it.

The chests are handy, for those types that like to sell and disenchant a lot of things... as my warrior character, I never touched them (on principal), but my sneak thief often had a little dig.

No it's not cheating. You can RP when you open them, like taking just what you need and placing something with the equivalent value, or even more in it. It's what I do because for now I have lots of money. But for a start take and later in the game return it back with nice items like gems, necklaces, etc..
