Ebony Mail needs to be fixed : V

Don't get me wrong, the Ebony Mail is pretty damn good as far as stats go, and appearance wise it's one of my favourites in the game. But I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, I'm sure some people have. This problem usually only occurs when sneaking and trying to use a bow, when I draw my bow back to take my shot the damn black aura that the armour produces gets in the way of my shot and makes it difficult to see much of anything. I cannot be the only one who is bothered by this. This is def the sorta thing that should be patched, isn't it?

I'm wondering what you're doing trying to sneak while wearing heavy armor in the first place..and then there's the matter of trying to sneak and use a bow. The Ebony mail was never meant to be used for sneaks or archers. If you want to play as a sneaky archer, your best bet is light armor, or none at all.

I would love to use the mail on my archer as well, but its just impossible. its a shame, because it looks good on my khajiit.

@barrettsfloyd - the poison aura enchantment kicks in when youre sneaking, so why wouldnt you sneak in it?

My character is a level 59 and I have perks and enchantments that make it so I can wear anything and I won't be penalized. So Heavy or Light Armour, it makes no difference to me. And in a game like Skyrim I think it's ridiculous for something like this to happen to me. This is a game where you can be anyone and do anything, if I want to be a sneaky archer and wear Heavy Armour I should be able to do that (and i can, with the exception of the Ebony Mail) I'm sure they will fix this in the future but I am wondering why they have not done so already.

Because it's stiff,bulky heavy armour designed for recieving heavy blows.

Except that it comes with a built-in Muffle enchant, making it rather useful for sneaking.

What are you talking about, lol. I'm not sure if you remember but the whole mission to get that Armour was a sneaking game. The Armour is meant for sneaking. They just have to fix it

It also silences you're movements, so clearly it's designed with sneaking in mind.

No idea about the quest as i havent done it.I just dont agree that heavy armour under any circumstances should be good for sneaking in,it's a nonsense.

exactly. its a great piece of sneaking gear that doesnt work well for sneaking. :blink:

Then clearly you are new to this game series, lol. I find it funny when people like you play this game, you'll never get the most out of this kind of game if you keep thinking like that. Just because it's technically Heavy Armour doesn't mean, in the slightest, that it cannot be used effectively for sneaking.

I find it funny when people like you play the game and think heavy armour should in any way be useful for sneaking.

I havent got a problem with people wanting to wear whatever they want,with whatever build they favour, i just believe there should be penalties attached to doing so.

Except that the Ebony Mail was made with the purpose of being a sneaky armor.
That aside, armor is mostly a stylistic choice. Take a specific perk or a certain standing stone, and you can sneak in HA as if you didn't wear any armor at all.

The Ebony Mail is a unique piece of Heavy Armour that allows the player enchantments that prove invaluable when sneaking while providing the protection of Heavy Armour. It's made for sneaking while providing the protection of Heavy Armour.

Nope. There's Ebony Mail, a reward for a Daedric Quest, and Ebony Armor, something anyone can buy/smith with the right perks.

The ebony mail IS a sneaky mans armour, it may be classed as heavy armour but surely you could wear a pair of light leather boots with it if you so wish? personally i would prefer to use light armour when sneaking because there's more light armour out there with better sneak benefits but there's really no reason why someone shouldn't be aloud to sneak in the ebony mail now is the?
