Ebony ore veins

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:28 pm

So I am level 36 and have yet to come across any ebony ore veins. Im trying to smith a full set of daedric armor, and I would rather not spend a fortune on ingots from merchants. So if anyone knows where a good place to mine ebony ore is, please share some knowledge.

Also, I will be double enchanting the armor once it is complete, amd I am open to suggestions for what kind of enchants I should use. Im a Nord warrior, specializing in one handed weapons. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about ore veins. But i know that there are re-spawning ebony ingots that appear inside the shrine of Mehrune Dagon. You find the shrine at the end of the Pieces of the Past quest. They respawn along with the deadras every few days. So you can get the ingots and the deadra hearts at the same time.

Thank you, Skoomacat! Now, any tips on enchants? I seem to be getting burned pretty bad against fire dragons, so I was thinking some nice fire resist would solve that issue. Any ideas on what should compliment that?

This place is great. Go to the orc camp south of windhelm, and the mine is just across the bridge. TONS of ebony in there. Also, if that isn't enough, there's a very small ebony mine north of riften, right near a town. There's only a few veins there, though.

There's some ebony veins at the bottom of Redbelly Mine in Shor's Stone, too.

I'm a Nord so the Frost is covered, but in the next few days here I'm gonna' put Fire and Shock Resistance on my Daedric Boots (only armor piece that will accept these resists - I dual-wield). I'm also gonna' put Absorb Stamina, Absorb Health, Shock Damage, and Fire Damage on my swords (if they'll take them - I haven't checked yet).

Quest for a resist:
Spoiler
Do the Book of Love quest for Temple of Mara in RIften for 15% Magic Resistance.

Edit: Be very careful not to go back to the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon before 7 game days has passed because there is apparently a bug that will stop the Daedra from re-spawning. The items inside will respawn (ebony and gold ingots et al), but the Daedra don't. <_< This has happened to me and I had to buy a couple of hearts to complete my Daedric set. :o

I was just in there and found three, albeit two of them are 'off the beaten path', so to speak and you have to really look for them.

I'll second the mine near the Orc stronghold and the veins at the Throat of the World; the latter also have a malachite vein or two nearby.

You can get 24 ebony ingots worth from that Orc mine near wind helm every time you go. Hands down best way to get large amounts of ebony.

I think boots, rings, and necklaces accept resist frost and resist fire. For quite a while, I used the helmet of the unburned and some boots of frost resistance I found to help me out and later I enchanted those things into my boots. The Helmet of the Unburned is unique in that resistance enchantments are prohibited for helmets, yet this one had the enchantment. Kind of inconsistent. I think the helmet of the unburned was in the burrow with the dragonstone. I also would brew potions and take one of the appropriate type. If you're using a one handed weapon, your shield can hold resistance enchantments too.

Try Gloombound Mine

That's the mine at the Orc stronghold near Windhelm - the camp itself is called Narzulbur.

I pulled over 30 ebony ores out of that place when I visited it.

It took me a little while, but I finally found Gloombound mine. It is a smiths wet dream, I'll say that much! I pulled just under 30 ingots, which should be more than enough to complete my daedric set.

Only 7 points away from maxing enchanting, and then Im making a proper smithing outfit before I craft and hone the last set of armor and weapons I will ever use...
