EDE: spoiler free please

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 10:55 pm

On the mission where you're returning EDE to the brotherhood of steel, I arrived at a bunker in the hidden valley and ran into a brotherhood patrol. Their icons are all red and they attack me on site. Is this normal or did I do something to provoke them? Please no spoilers.

Are you wearing faction armor?
What is your rep with BOS?
Did you kill Veronica?

Have you had any interactions with the BOS prior to this?

I did not take EdE to the BOS as I wanted him to have the Follower's weapon upgrade but they should not attack unless you dissed them at another time.

as far as I know this is the first time I've met them. I don't know who Veronica is, I'm wearing metal armour.

Weird. Normally they should only attack you if you're wearing faction armor.

Sounds like a bug. Try taking all armor off before entering, telling ED-E to wait before entering (he'll be fine and you'll get back to him soon) and other combinations of things. That should help you pinpoint the problem.

I tried sneaking past their patrols and made it into the bunker. Maybe the patrols will attack you until you develop a relationship with them. Anyway...

What was the last faction armor you wore? Wear it and unequip it again- there's an occasional bug where Armor faction will "stick" even if you're no longer wearing the armor.

If you ran into a Brotherhood patrol, that means it's nighttime with the sandstorm going on around you. Until you have gotten inside and gone through the initial "acceptance" quest, that patrol will remain hostile. The only advice I can give is to come back during the day when that patrol is not active.

Just wondered if you solved this mystery? Did you befriend the BoS yet?

This. As of right now you're just some wasteland scrub that's stumbled upon their hidden base in the dead of night. They're going to do to you what they do to all wasteland scrubs. Keep in mind that these guys are the real Brotherhood. They're nothing like Lyon's boys in DC.

I'm having this exact same problem and have tried everything suggested but still get attacked on sight. When I go into the BoS bunker the door behind me seals at the BoS are hostile.

- I've tried returning in the day (with no sandstorm) when supposedly the patrol are not there; they still attack in the same way.

- I've tried returning without ED-E or any other followers: the same thing happens.

- I have put on and removed faction armor so as to make sure it is not still in effect: that didn't work.

- I haven't ever ran into the BoS before and so have no rep with them and I get on fine with Veronica.

I want to go see Lorenzo for the ED-E My Love mission and the mission marker is telling me to go there but I can't!

UPDATE:
OK, so I went back to the bunker with both ED-E and Veronica. No problem. I can get in with her with me. I'm still annoyed that this seems to be the only way I could do it. Is this a bug or am I missing something??

I realise that the BoS wouldn't trust me initially but surely that is why I have the password! I just don't get a chance to even use it!

I've found if you want to repair Ede-e it's best to see the brotherhood before talking to any of the major faction heads. Otherwise the door will lock behind you and you don't get to use the password. I prefer the Ede-e or Veronica way of meeting the brotherhood if I have peaceful intentions towards them. It's more plausible than them knowing exactly who you've spoken to about them.

I just had that same problem with the BOS. I went at night with Boone and ED-e. They were hostile but we were able to get into the bunker and then the door locks me in. This is where it got interesting for me, the BOS had me strip off everything and then they put a bomb collar on me and had me do a small quest for them before they would let me come and go. I am doing 'House Always Win' and I was there to do my duty but now I want to be more creative in my duty.

Yeah I have heard that this is basically what happens (or should happen) if you go without Veronica, as you have to earn their trust another way. I'm guessing you did this before you had any major affiliation with other factions, particularly the NCR?
