Editing W.A.T.E.R. mod with TESsnip

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:49 am

The author granted editing of the mod for people who didn't want the extra content (followers, npc's, treasure chests, books). I don't think it makes sense to not include these as optionals, seeing as players wouldn't know what's Vanilla and what's modular (unless it's blatantly obvious). Plus, I don't need extra things like this in my game at the moment. I've used TESsnip to solve this, but haven't tested it out. I'm looking for feedback.

I've delete these groups:

SPEL (spell)
BOOK (books)
CONT (containers)
NPC_ (NPC package)
PACK (AI package)

^ AI and NPC referenced creatures like skeletons and mudcrabs that are in the mod. The rest are treasure chests, custom books and 1 spell.

while keeping these intact:

ACTI (activator)
Staic (static)
CELL (cell)
WRLD (world space)
WATR (water)

I'm not sure if more needs to go into this, but does that seem correct? Also for anyone else who did this, have I missed something?

Not sure why, but ESP before = 500kb, and when I saved the edited version it came out to 1MB.

Try just removing the NPC additions, they're really the only ones that get in the way. I don't mind them but it really does need to be an option. I've noticed that ESPs edited with TESVSnip are bigger, likely due to it resaving with alack of compression so normally I just run it though the CK after I'm done to clean it up (change something, change it back, save, compressed, record count correct, ect).

I want the containers gone more than the NPC's. I'm a CK newbie and when I opened it in CK, my mind felt cluttered. Well, thanks anyway.

I support Your incentive... the problem is. Someone whould have to do it each time there is an update. Also I don't belive the author would allow it to be uploaded on for e.g. SteamWorkshop, even with all the credits. Anyway I already tried to exlain nicely why I think it might would be better to make it optional for the fans. You can imagine how it turned out. I decided to unsub and wait... maybe some things will change.
