Elder scrolls VI: Time period speculation

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 1:21 am

So we have had threads speculating where the setting for the next game might be and where people want it but now for the time period. For me, i can see Bethesda setting their next game in the 2E or possible even earlier. What do you think?

This belongs in series discussion.

But, I don't think it'd be too far in the future, the Thalmor still have to be dealt with. I doubt we will be going backwards in the timeline.

Skyrim is in the fourth Era.So TES:VI wil be probaly on the Fifth Era since Alduin was defeated by Dovakhiin.I'm expecting a super cliche storyline.

From Arena to Oblivion ecompassed only the 3rd era so I would highly doubt the 5th era . I think those large DLC might have something to do with fighting the Thalmor . For the next game ... I'll say like other said when this was on oblivon's time . I think it will be the summerset iles :)

I don't know what Bethesda will do, but from Skyrim the logical choice would be a great fight with the high elves.

Everyone hates them. They've done great harm, act like Nazis, and removed Talos from the list of Gods. Talos was important in Oblivion. Fighting the radical high elves is job number one. I can't imagine setting all that in motion to merely forget about it.
I'm pissed about them, and they don't exist. Skyrim did its job.
I don't know when this would happen, probably not another 200 years; that's too long. (unless we get a thousand years of High Elf domination and do some empire toppling)

I don't know, I just want a Morrowind 2 already. Let me rebuild my homeland!

A game in Hammerfell or Black Marsh would be cool too.

I find it unprobable that the timeline will jump another big chunk of time. As people have pointed out, the earlier games took place on a relatively narrow time window, so I see no reason to just pass all potential events of the 4th era just to proceed to a new period of time. I'd assume the next game would take place less than 10 years after the events of Skyrim, while the situation with the Aldmeri Dominion is still quite much the same as it was in Skyrim, globally speaking. Then little by little the balance would shift, one way or the other (most likely to the triumph of the Cyrodiilic Empire).

Probably during the fourth war some years after Skyrim, during the Great War (unless that's coveed by an expansion, and I hope it isn't - it's big enough to warrant its own game). I'm guessing 4E200-500, probably around 4E210-270 though.

(Skyrim is 4E201).

Why? We haven't seen a super cliche storyline except in Arena, and even then, things were expanded on to make it much more interesting. If you think the other games had super cliche storylines, then either you aren't appreciating what's actually going on behind the scenes, or else you just think anything where the world is about to end/be thrown into chaos is cliche.

"The secrets of the Dwarves" would be a better Dlc.Also i can't even imagine the size of a "War agaisn't Thalmor Dlc".But it would be awesome.

Within the next fifty years as a war between the Empire and other nations against the Dominion. The Dragons, Beholden to the new Dovakhiin line will aid the empire.

Though I would prefer a new setting, namely that of Akavir.

210 would be way to soon ... the unnamed Dovahkiin will need to be part of history . Logically speaking ... or something like the the Dovahkiin went to have tea with the Neravarine is Akavir

I think Black Marsh lorewise (environment) is hard to put in a Elder Scrolls Game as the single province. My beloved Valenwood as well :'(

Hammerfell seems like a definite possibility though.

First they gotta do Black Marsh or Valenwood, before I allow them to make a whole game about Akavir. A DLC playing there would be nice though.

Well, Oblivion took place a measley 5 years after Morrowind, but as you aptly pointed out they mysteriously got rid of the Nerevarine by the convenience of Akavir.
