Elsweyr Fondu - Mage's best friend?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:02 am

+ 25% Magicka Regeneration for 12 minutes. +100 Magicka for 12 minutes.

That is crazy. Moon sugar's not the easiest to find, but still. Like whoa.

Cooking is the least talked about great thing in Skyrim.

If you don't fast travel you can find dealers along the road that sell it. You'll know when you found one when they greet you with something like "Excuse me brother/sister".

Most of the recipes aren't worth trying but that one is worth the effort.

Beef/Venison Stew and Vegetable soup are good, too as the grant unlimited power attacks and shield bashing.

They only say Brother/Sister if both are the same race, if I am correct. I always kill those Dealers unless they are Argonians. I hate harming my own kind.

If the dealer is an Argonian, that only gives Khajiit more incentive to kill him :3

They call you Brother/Sister no matter your race, at least in my file. I don't really harm the Argonians either. Not because of races (I'm a Breton) but because I like the sound of their voices and Skyrim isn't the easiest place for their kind to find work.

Those dealers are always a welcome sight, i never kill them. They are the only source of sleeping-tree sap. Two bottles per dealer. That [censored] has saved my mages ass several times.

The Sleeping Tree gives you its sap, and you can still get the sap from the bodies ;)

Awesome fondue!! I love it even though moon sugar is quite expensive. Of course, I have more gold than I know what to do with at this point.... I have trouble finding Ale, though. Does anyone know where I can find a lot of Ale?

The taverns carry a bit, but I've found the best locations to be the large forts or other areas you know that have a stocked kitchen. Sorry I can't give more details, I'm away from the game right now.

There are some great things in the cookong, but the Elseweyr Fondu is most likely the most powerful one.

I have experimented with giving my current follower Marcurio all manner of food and potions, but the only thing he consumes is the Elsweyr Fondue. I cannot keep up a decent supply because I find the Eidar cheese wheel to be one of the rarest things that I actually use in the game. I wish I could find a vendor that was guaranteed to always stock it. I always stock up on the Moon Sugar every visit to Riften (Thieves' Guild fully vendored out has an Alchemist who stocks 1), every time I see a caravan, and at every road side drug dealer.
But there's not enough cheese in the world!

Cooking is great, if your looking for Moon Sugar the khajiit caravans have 2 - 4 normally every few days just outside white run. You can get a lot at these places..

5 -6 Moon Sugar in Riften Warehouse

1 - 2 In Cragslane Cavern

Always get mine from here about 10 days or so for respawn.

It's fairly rare. I just check every dungeon, house, room I go into, etc. Riverwood Trader has 3 that restock semi-regularly. If you've done the Golden Claw, you can just take them off of the shelf. There are also a couple in Dragonsreach. The basemant of the Bee and Barb has at least 5-6, but you will have to steal them.

My non-Mage Wood Elf thief loves the stuff. He uses it to boost his Magicka so he can repeatedly cast his only spell: Transmute. He now has a growing pile of gold bars on the kitchen table in Breezehome. He hasn't decided what to do with them yet.
(I know all characters start with a couple spells, but Smelly Steve does not use them)

This is a great hint. I don't steal stuff like that (I'm guilty when it comes to my one weakness which is books), but it didn't occur to me to check for freebies. :P
It is so annoying when I see an Eidar Cheese Wheel sitting on the counter of an inn, but the innkeeper doesn't list it for sale. It's not right when illegal drugs are easier to buy than cheese.

This is how it starts.... and ends

Potential College student
1) Hmmm.... I've heard Elsweyr fondue is a fantastic way to prep for my entrance exam to the college....
2) Whoa..... svcking down this fondue... I've gotten 10 times as much power out of it then hard work ever provided... this moon sugar is great stuff!
3) Who needs the mental discipline and mental exercises anymore for casting spells... girl look at that body, I WORK OUT!
4) I could really use some moon sugar right now... just need to mix it with Eidar Cheese... what do you mean it will be a month before you get more!!!!! There's a wheel right there on your shop counter!
5) Why doesn't combining slices of Eidar cheese work to complete the formula!!!!??? Fools, you know not what you do by slicing prestine Eidar cheese wheels....MOON SUGAR RAGE!
6) OK.... just 1 hit of Fondue, and I'll have the power to TAKE 2 wheels of Eidar cheese forcibly...
7) Damnit, I've got to get more cheese! Enough to keep up with my steady supply of Moon Sugar from the Khajit caravans. East Empire trading company warehouse huh?
8) I'll never come quietly.... THE CHEESE IS WORTH 1000 TIMES THE BOUNTY FOOLS

Ends up living in a cave full of other moon sugar addicted warlocks....

Several of the houses in Solitude have quite a few Eidar cheese wheels, of course you have to steal them so if that's something you object to then disregard this post.
