To (emotionally) difficult to finish the Thieve's Guild Ques

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 3:39 pm

There's just something about binding my character's soul to the Twilight Sepulcher that I can't seem to stomach, no matter how hard I try. It's just, it's not a place I'd want to spend in the afterlife, no matter how evil my character may be. Does anyone else have this problem?

For those of us who realize this is just a video game, I would say the answer is probably "no". ;-)

Spoiler
But if you don't want to do it, then don't do it. And technically, you don't need to spend eternity there. You just need to be there until you have fulfilled your debt to Nocturnal. And if your character is anything like mine, you're probably going to have a dozen daedric princes playing dice for your soul in the afterlife anyway. ;-)

It doesn't really matter, by the "end" of the game, your character has like five different choices for their afterlife, one of which, you acutally get to go to.

No, he's right. Everyone has not played the TG quests. I'm one that hasn't. Try and keep spoilers in the spoiler thread, or at least use spoiler tags where relevant. Hell, just put POSSIBLE SPOILERS in the thread title.

Idk, I think it would be funny watching the sepulcher and all the daedra fighting over my soul :P

By being a werewolf, you are supposed to hunt with Hircine in his realm, and other than Nocturnal, there is at least one other Daedric prince who you "sell" you soul to after you die. However, being Dragonborn and apart of the proficy of Alduin's wall, you probably go to Sovngarde when you die anyways.

Since this thread is already in spoilers, here is something to appease you:

You don't have to serve your time in the Sepulcher. If you pay attention to the dialogue, you realize that the only reason ghosts protect the Sepulcher is to fulfill their end of the bargain which you do when you return the Skeleton Key. Nocturnal says you already fulfilled your end of the deal by returning the Key and you have a place in the Ebonmere. If you know, only Nightingales that already fulfilled their end of the bargain go to Ebonmere so you don't have to guard anything. So you get powers and will become luck when you die without having to spend any of your afterlife guarding the Sepulcher :bunny: :bunny: :bunny:

Considering how this doesn't affect me in game, I couldn't care less

Dragonborn, Nocturnal is nothing compared to my ingame character.

Seeing I don't really ride dragons, steal people's souls, shoot a fireball out of my hand, I found the decision really easy.

Yeah, the writers seem to think you are really promiscuous with your soul. "Oh that old thing, I won't be needing it."

Regardless of whether or not you end up serving Nocturnal for an eternity after death (which does seem to be the deal), at the time you agree, you think you will.

That sort of thing in a game just never bothers me. *shrug* I don't care about it IRL, why on earth or Nirn would I care about it in game? I don't RP to that depth - it's not that important to me.

Yeah OP, I don't RP, so no, no emotional connection to giving away a virtual soul of a virtual character that dies virtually a million times and can be resurrected by hitting Load.

Hmm, if that bothers you I doubt your going to enjoy becoming a cannibal for another Daedric Prince (Namira) at some point in your travels....

Enjoy beating defenseless priests to death, murdering your followers, assassinating a woman on her wedding day, killing the priest who you were helping clear out a daedra, etc. Really Nocturnal is one of the better Daedra...

Akatosh made you and owns your soul so if any of the daedric princes wants your soul they need to go through him.

The post began in the general forum. By containing spoilers, the thread became damned. A moderator killed it and consigned it to the spoilers forum for all eternity.

Skyrim has a habit of forcing your character's hand by not giving you two or more choices when faced with these sorts of things.

it's a game yo

Its a story-book game so many people invest time in developing their character and don't want to do things that don't fit with that. Its like a character in a novel, which the author would want to portray in a consistent way and not have them do things which don't fit.

in that case then don't do it and save it for an evil char
