Empire vs Stormcloaks Player Alliance Effects

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:07 am

OK, I'm fairly certain the game makes a change when you choose a side, but I have a few questions. I know the answers will be spoilers and I don't want to know too much - I just don't want to pass a point of no return and have to reload a very old Save...so please answer as vaguely as possible (Dark Brotherhood style :P ).

Also, my questions may be spoilers to some because I've come across some info searching for known bugs that I read too far before it was too late.

1. When you join one side how does the other side react towards you (ie attack on sight, nasty comments, close quests, etc)?

2. If I have a house in a Stormcloak region and the Empire (or vice versa) takes over do I lose the house and my stuff? :o

3. Is Elisif a 'marryable' NPC? If so, can you marry her if you side with the Stormcloaks? I know Solitude is the seat of imperial power in Skyrim, but since she asks you to make an offering at a Shrine of Talos I'm guessing she's on the fence a bit. :P Also, is she an Imperial (race-wise)? ...because she doesn't have the Nord accent and seems to be slighter in build than the Nord chicks. XD

I intend to do at least 2 playthroughs (probably 3) on different charcter class-lesses, but I don't have the time and energy to playthrough one character several times by reloading older Saves once I've passed points of no return. :P

1. They don't really react much at all. You won't be barred from cities(Unless you're doing a seige against it)

2. Nope you'll still be able to access it no problem

3. Elisif is not marriageable without console commands. If you do them, yes it is possible to marry her as a stormcloak supporter.

Nope, no effect whatsoever. You can dress up as a legion soldier and run around freely in stormcloaks's camps. Heck, you can even enter Ulfric's palace and have a chat with him. The only difference is that if one side wins, the guards in other side towns will be replaced with the winners.

Also, even if one side wins, everyone in the world will still talk about the ongoing war. LAME

if u join one, the other will give u a 'tresspassing" if u go into thier camps, for etc certain families in whiterun depending on who u side with will say random things about ya etc.
I've visited enemy camps and they just ignored me...

OK, thanks, everyone - questions answered. :P

That would be hilarious to use console commands to marry her XD ...but I'm on PS3. :P

Actually whenever I get near a Stormcloak camp they draw their weapons and command me to leave.

I think at one point empire soliders were attacking my character on sight. This was after I had helped the Stormcloaks take almost all of the towns back. I just assumed I had become well known to them for helping the Stormcloaks. I could be wrong though it's been awhile since I played through the Stormcloak quests.

Yeah, but they don't attack you on site, they give you a fairly long warning.
Funny thing, I was in the legion and saw legionaries transporting a prisoner. As I got close, they still drew their weapons and told me to leave. A bug or bad scripting?

That could be deliberate. I've only seen a couple of "Legates" (slightly more elaborate armor) and they seem more arrogant so they may treat their own subordinates poorly. :P Hopefully someone who's played through (or more) will give a better answer. :\

That may be unrelated. I havent chosen a side on this character but there is an imperial camp that warned me off.

I'd say it's a mistake but it could be purposely done that way. No matter who you are they'll draw their weapons when you approach their prisoner convoy, just in case you slip the prisoner a weapon, cut his ties, or attack. I'd say they shouldn't do this if you're a Legate or another relatively high ranking official or maybe if you're dressed in Legion armor.

That's strange. My current character is going Stormcloaks, but he can enter both camps currently and trade with the quartermasters. Its supposed to be only after joining one side does the other side begin to warn you away, though there may be exceptions if you've killed enough of that side's convoys or maybe cleared one of their camps while still neutral.

this, also I like how the respective leader tell you to go out and fight the remnants of said faction but there's immortal characters in said camps.

I agree they didn't implement the end of the civil war line well however even after the quest line the war isn't over, especially if you did stormcloak side. The conflict would be on going because the quest doesn't end with absolute defeat and some sort of armistice. It's obviously going to be expanded upon in Dlc

I recently summoned my dragon to one of stormcloak's camp. Since there's an essential npc in that camp, the fight never ends. As far as I know the dragon is still in that camp. Man this must be hell for that unlucky soldier - being tormented by a dragon and not being able to die. Meh, that's what you get for attacking the dragonborn.
