Enable Console commands on Consoles?

Post » Sat May 19, 2012 11:57 am

Personally I have not had any game breaking glitches or bugs that could not be fixed by a simple reload. However one of my good friends has had nothing but trouble since patch 1.3.

I am sure I'm not the first person to ask this, but would it be possible to enable console commands on the consoles? If Bethesda did that, at least the console players could fix their own quest related bugs.

Lets face it, Bethesda probably will not get around to ever fixing all of the quest bugs. People who cant continue with a character because of a bug will probably never bet tended to on an individual basis.

I am assuming there would be a technical side to implementing this, but I have no clue what pertains to it (or if it is even possible).

I'm fairly certain you can't access the console on 360.

I know you CANT. What I am asking is COULD they enable it so that console users could access it.

Not that I think it's likely, but there is seriously no reason not to unless it is a technical impossibility, which I somewhat doubt.

yes this is possible btw, if they can give the toolkit and steamkit away to the DAMN pc users, then us lowly 360 an ps3 players should at least be able to do friggin console commands

They should allow this, bad enough pc users get this unfair advantage over the other 2 simply because its on the pc but considering 360/ps3 practically have their own keyboards i see no reason why this cant be done or atleast tried to be done

I'd like the option, to help get past broken quests, even if only tech support could tell you how to enable it.

I'm 99% sure it won't happen, though I can't think of why not.

It's not a mod, or a level editor that would make MS or Sony want to stop due to it being user made content, and since there's no multiplayer, it can't affect other player's play....

I wouldn't mind having the construction kit for the Console, that would be fun to fiddle with and build my own little areas, heck add my own little house....

Far as the console, its possible, some of the commands would have to be disabled, they write to the disk. typing would be a hassle unless you had a chatpad, or usb keyboard hooked up the xbox supported... but yeah its possible. probable? not likely.

I'd rather see the construction kit for the console myself, even if its just to modify the world I play in.

The original game Two Worlds allowed console access on the 360, so it has happened before on the 360. You could do a lot of things like change grass draw distance, adjust shadows etc. The changes did not survive reloading your game so you had to do them each time you played. There is no reason Beth could not enable some type of console for easy quest fixes. with how broken the game is i think it would be a good solution to allow console players to fix their own glitched quests.

Call of duty black ops allows u to get out of chair at title screen and acess its own little personal console commands and it can influence multiplayer online in small ways but microsoft had no prob with that. Once again a real easy fix right under their noses. Bethesda please read ur public forums

Yep this is a single player game there is no reason for Bethesda to not enable console commands so we can at least fixed bugged quests.

I am pretty sure that Microsoft's objection to this will be achievement cheating. There are several achievements that can be had with a single console command.

So who the hell cares? Honestly, this is about FIXING THE DAMN BUGS. "Achievement cheating" is nonsense, the achievements don't mean anything to anyone anyways. The only way to fix bugged quests, items, NPC's that were killed by the game's [censored] stupid AI offscreen, is to use the console commands.

GIVE US ACCESS TO THE CONSOLE.

Gstaff, who can't be bothered to respond to PM's, pops up in this thread.

We don't care about "achievement cheating." We care about FIXING A [censored] BUGGED AS HELL GAME. Right now, the console is the only way to do it, and those of us on Xbox and PS3 are screwed by not having access to it.

There's a fix to be made here. Fastest, easiest, simplest way is to GIVE US ACCESS TO THE SAME THING THE PC SIDE HAS ACCESS TO.

So who the hell cares?

Microsoft does and Bethesda is bound by their developer rules. They cannot even release a patch for THEIR OWN GAME without Microsoft's approval. Achievements are, for some odd reason, a big deal in the console world. The console would be trivial to add to the XBOX and PS3 versions, but they simply cannot.

With posts like yours, it is no wonder... Especially since he isn't on the development team. He cannot directly fix the problems and the problems we bring up are being addressed. Through him! Be grateful he looks at the posts!

Well then, the game is trivial for me to take to a Gamestop and trade in. And as I can, I will. And they can know damn well I'm never buying another of their bug-ridden piece of junk games again.
