Enchanting advice

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:54 pm

Hello I was wondering if someone could provide advice on the below issue.

I currently have 45 enchanting, and when trying to enchant an item, I am able to get a 13% improvement on the item using a Grand Soul Gem. When I attempt to use a potion that boosts my enchanting strength by 10%, I am still only able to get a 13% stat improve, and have been unable to work out why this will not raise. Is there a formulae that provides a cap based on the level of your enchantment skill?

I have 3/5 in the Enchanter perk to increase enchantment strength by 60% also

Thanks in advance.

If you mean how to get stronger enchantments, simply level up your enchanting skill too 100 and invest in necessary perks.

The various wikis usu have the best formulas - I just pay the trainer for 5 enchanting levels at every class-less level. :\

I think thats a waste of money. If you buy empty soul gems and just fill them using a soul trap weapon you can not only earn thousands of gold but quickly raise your skill level.

OP, that strikes me as very odd. Your enchantment should have better stats after using the potion. Can you identify the specific item and enchantment? Is the Grand Soul Gem filled with a Grand Soul?

I think you won't really make a difference in the enchantment with a 10% raise. I crafted an enchanting potion which should have raised enchanting for 7%, but I guess that increase is so minuscule that it won't register.

Also, a good way to level your enchanting and smithing at the same time, craft jewelry and then enchant them with low level soul gems. (Kolskeggr mine is full of gold ore veins and Forsworn lol ;)

Create gear to increase your alchemy to increase your enchanting potions. I have 5 pieces of Alchemy gear, you can enchant a Falmer helmet and wear a circlet (nice bonus), necklace, ring and guantlets/gloves. I have them all increasing my alchemy by 29% and combined make enchanting potions of plus 37%. Do this with smithing gear 4 pieces (all 29%) and create plus 147% smithing potions. Create Godlike weapons that make master level look like daycare. If your in to doing that sort of thing.

The enchanting potions does not give you the full effect, I have maxed both enchanting and alchemy and can make +29% enchanting potions, however then making gloves with improved archery damage where the base is +40% I just get +48% using the potion, who is 20% increase, it should be +51%.

In my opinion the fortify enchant potions is just an bonus and not a reason to level alchemy.
the "fortify health 250 and heal 200", "resist fire 100% and frost 100%", "+147% smithing", "paralyze for 30 seconds" is good reasons.

its not super useful until higher levels, but you need to keep taking the right perks like you're doing, you need your enchanting skill at 100, and all 5 of the enchanter perks and the rest of the perks right up the middle of the perk tree, ending with double enchanting, once you have done that, then its worth using up grand soul gems on and you'll get the 25% magic reduction on each item. before then you can use it but its not gonna be real worth it and you can find or buy gear like master robe of destruction or ring of destruction to reduce your magic costs.

A +13% potion doesn't multiply your effectiveness by 1.13. It just adds another 13% bonus to what you already have so it may not be enough to make much of a difference. IIRC you won't see much difference until you start using 25% or 32% potions IIRC.

Well, I'm already up against it with more value in items than the vendors have money so I just pay the trainer at every new class-less level.

I exploit the purchases of houses  so I have a decent amount of money. :\
