enchanting failure?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:19 pm

i used the search button same as in other forums im registered in. but i didnt find any results referring to the question i have.

its about the enchanting system in skyrim. ive got a char which i played long long time and when i became lvl 57 today i could finally add that talent in enchanting "extra effect" .

now theres my question: when i enchanted my dragon armor before getting to skill 100 in enchanting i could drink that enchanters potion and put up my health boost on the chest armor up to 84 health.

now i got the extra effect option and suddenly i can just go up to 70 hp for the first enchantment.

is this some kind of bug that just happens at my game or is it normal that 2 enchantments on 1 item are each less effective than having 1 enchantment which is slightly better?

hope to get some help here. i lack english so i hope everyone reading this understands what my problem actually is.

The value of the enchantment is dependent on the strength of the soul in addition to your skill. Perhaps you picked a Soul Gem that does not have a Grand Level soul in it. Note, just because it is a Grand Soul Gem, it does not mean it has a Grand Level Soul trapped in it.

oh i know that. maybe i was not precise enough.

i tried to use a grand soulgem with grand level soul in it.

i wonder if people really do threads about stuff like that, if that wouldve been the reason :) nono. im much more reasonable.

like i said, before i added this talent at skill 100 extra effect i could do single effects with like 84 hp addition or.... 68% sneak addition or... 42 points for light armory. now i can do 2 effects on each item. but the effects are not as strong as they were before. so if i wanted to enchant gloves with lets say fortify onehanded and fortify twohanded, its now that i can only get 28 points on onehanded and 28 points on twohanded. and before i could do just one of those characteristics. but it wouldve been like 42 points on onehanded for example.

the only question i got is.. is it normal or is it bugged?

Before you add the second effect, set everything up for one effect and see what it looks like.

What I mean is, pick an item, pick a soul gem, and then pick one effect. Look at the result. Then add a second effect and see if the first result changed. If the stats do not change, but the results are still lower than what you expect, then something is wrong with the Fortify Enchanting bonus. If the stats DO change, then I would assume it is normal and not bugged.

I have not tried the Extra Effect yet, as my Enchanting is still at 69 and I won't grind it. However it makes sense that the second effect would cause both effects to have less power than one. It is all in the capacity of the item to hold a charge. Now, should it be split amongst the two effects or just a total effect value that is smaller than double the single value, I am not sure.

Ah, this is due to the recent patch. The perk that adds 25% to health bonuses etc, used to affect every armor enchantment. They tried to fix it and removed it's effect all together.

It's nothing to do with one enchantment being weaker with extra effect, they are both the same relative magnitude.

You mean Corpus Enchanter? I didn't know that. Now I'm happy I went up the left side tree even though it costs another two perks.

That's the one, just before extra effect on the middle tree. The elemental enchantments aren't really that useful IMO, they don't get many charges. I use 1 second paralyse and 1 second fiery soul trap, gives me 400+ charges.

Classic skyrim patch, trying to fix one thing and breaking it, think magic resist 1.2 ha.
